Wonderful day here in beautiful downtown Fawn Lodge! I went down the hill to the Bartell ranch in Anderson. They turned out their (MudWagon) StageCoach today with a six-up! Too much fun to be legal! LOL, had a great time getting hairy grooming horses straight out of pasture and learning about a completely different way of harnessing.

They use a type of farm harness. It's completely different from the English-type of harness I'm used to. I cinched up the back-pad and was trying to figure out the martingale, and Dennis came up chuckling behind me. Poor old Duke was really PO'ed with me because he didn't like that tight belly-band. Dennis explained the way their harness worked. Sure makes harnessing up easier!

When everything was ready to go, Eric (Dennis's son) offered for me to drive. I refused as six is just one pair too many for me. The leaders just seem to... well, I just don't have a feeling of control over them. Four is quite enough for me!

I wasn't very happy with myself as the camera got left in the truck. I'll try to get some pictures on Wednesday or Thursday. They've invited me back as Eric needs to get in some practice before going to Santa Ynez for a Stage Coach Symposium. It's being hosted by the Santa Ynez Valley Museum. Should be quite a do. Wish I was going. I also volunteered to clean harness with them. Not too sure they think I'm serious. LOL, I'm so desparate to be around horses, I'd agree to just about anything.:p;) Ain't I pathetic?:p^_^

It's painful all the time, but at times is much worse. Those are called "flares."

How are you, Matt? Have you been going to mid week Lenten services? I've only been able to go to one so far. We've had ice storms and such here.

I'm actually in Wisconsin right now, visiting my kids. I'll be speaking in their classrooms on Australia this week. Yikes!

I'm alright, I think I'll be doing alot better in every aspect of life once summer is officially here.

I havn't went to the mid week services. Thats good that you were able to go to one, the times conflicted with my schedule unfortunatley.

Thats going to be a good speech, your welcome to give it in my classes too. :)

My tummy is growling. I got blood work done this morning (lipid panel) and so I had to have a 12 hour fast so I hadn't had anything since 7:50pm (my prenatal vitamins) and had the blood drawn at 8:30am. I had a donut and coffee for breakfast and by the time lunch came around I wasn't hungry.

So when I leave work I'm going to call the hubby to start on dinner so it's ready to eat when I get home (I'm thinking Skyline - we make it using whole wheat pasta but the actual canned Skyline chili). Tuesdays are nice because the hubby works 4/10's and has that day off and when I get home it's all nice and clean.

He's SO going to be Mr. Mom (but he would be GREAT at it!).

That whole song is about Jesus. Haven't you ever heard the Hallelujah Chorus? King of Kings and Lord of Lords is a direct reference to Jesus. From Revelations:

They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.

a better song for reference is the golden classic "I have decided to follow Jesus" Acceptance Theology and OSAS all wrapped up into one great sounding kids song.

Yesterday I had a discussion with my mom and aunt on services. My aunt is Catholic and my mom goes to a C&MA church. My aunt was asking why their services are different and my mom was trying to explain contemporary worship to her to which I said "happy, clappy feel-good music". I mentioned how it wasn't theologically sound and she asked me to pull out a song as reference.

I said this one:

King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Glory, hallelujah
King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Glory, hallelujah
King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Glory, hallelujah

It really doesn't even mention Jesus until the tail end but it's so vague you could have Mormons, JW, etc singing it (even Jewish people).

She then felt that "happy-clappy" was derogatory until I asked her if they clap during the contemporary songs (she said yes) and then I asked if they clapped during hymns (obvious no). Then I asked why people raised their hands...

Yes, I obviously get on better discussing services with my aunt.

I know it's about Jesus and is from Revelations. I'm more talking about the words themselves (i.e. a person visiting that hasn't been exposed to the gospel). There isn't much substance there.

It was harder on the spot to think of one since I haven't been in a service of that type in probably 7 years.

This is a better one.

Over the Mountains and the Seas,
Your river runs with Love for me,
And I will open up my heart
And let the healer set me free.

I'm happy to be in the truth
And I will daily life my hands,
For I will always sing of when your love came down.

I could sing of your love forever

I lost the sun and can't find it, hadn't seen it in awhile. My sister in law has been dealing with cancer for over a year now, they just told her the chemo is not doing any good anymore and gave her less than 6 months.

::hugs:: Ctay.

I was told the Drs didn't expect me to see my 40th birthday...I turn 42 this year...

What I'm saying is...while we all have an expiration date, sometimes the Drs don't know it all.

Prayers for your whole family for comfort and peace and for your sister for strength, healing and courage.

Prayers for your family.

Drs make educated guesses on people as WS was saying

We have a member who was put on hospice care a while back (within the last year). After about a week, he started improving and before we knew it, he was off of hospice and back to receiving treatment for his cancer. They did lower the dose though. Turns out that his body just needed a break from the treatments. I say this because sometimes a treatment break is needed.

OTOH, is your sister-in-law a Christian?

I have that problem from time to time. I just hit the "refresh" button on the browser.

Back home the Fire Chief was diagnosed with cancer and was given a few months. The Dr's said there was nothing they could do. He didn't want treatment, so he basically went home to die. After a week or so he said "To hell with this, I'm going back to work." So he did.

He retired 25 years later!!

Well... I have to join the 'Doctors don't know everything,' camp too. My friend Paula's husband had advanced lukemia and the doctors said the same thing. He lived six YEARS and spent most of it giving bible studies at the local church. Gail was good too. The funny thing was, he was in a Nazerine church (unknowingly) teaching Lutheran doctrine and theology. Gail used to get in trouble with the pastor on a regular basis. His usual defense was, "That's what scripture says. If you can prove scripture wrong, then I'll admit a mistake here." They never could. Paula came with me to Church and was amazed that everything Gail was teaching, having spent hundreds of hours researching, was right there laid out for the whole world to see. She had an epihany when reading the Book Of Concord. Paula just devours Lutheran theology books.

So, hopefully your SIL. is a Christian. She just might find that the Lord is just rattling her cage to get her attention.;)

ctay - prayers going up for your SIL.....i'm so sorry to hear this news....but like others have said, the doctors don't know everything - my grandmother had breast cancer and was told that she only had a short amount of time to live - she ended up surviving with it for 7 years....

I have that problem from time to time. I just hit the "refresh" button on the browser.

tried that, multiple times, it doesn't work, it seems that the only time i can get in to read those threads are when they are no longer "bolded" (as in, unread) - not sure what's going on!!

I got my blood work back. My cholesterol levels dropped from 223 to 199 (yay - normal limits!). My triglycerides went down from 149 to 127.

...and that only took 2 years to accomplish lol.

EXCELLENT!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!! yay, you!! :amen:

I did 2 talks today at my son and daughter-in-law's school, on Australia. 3rd-6th grades. It went very well and the kids were great. My fibro would not allow me to do this on a daily basis. I'll probably sleep for 2 days.

i bet those kids just absolutely ate up everything you said - what a WONDERFUL thing for them to get to listen to!! i pray your fibro does not slam you because of this....(((gentle hugs)))

i can't WAIT for Lenten service tonight!! i always enjoy the service SO much - and i'm excited because my bestie will be joining us tonight (she's WELS), and because there's a possibility that my son will get to acolyte again tonight, and if he does, he'll get to wear a cassock - he looked SO HANDSOME in it last week, i'm gonna make sure i bring my camera so i can take a pic this time!!
