You know, it never ceases to amaze me how partisan and biased our national press is. The three companies that supply us news are determined to present the President in honeyed terms and constantly drip vitriol and poison toward anyone who opposes him. For instance, they still HATE Sarah Palin! The amazing thing is that the media doesn't even try to disguise that hatred towards her or anyone as conservative. Just amazing... Yet they still think the public buys the lie that the media is unbiased.:scratch::doh: I think Pravda was less biased (than our media is now) when the USSR was still in power.

Back to my coffee drinking today after a my coffeemaker demise yesterday. Needed a new Mr Coffee.

I'm getting very excited about our trip to Australia. I bought shorts at GoodWill yesterday. Where we are staying is going to be in the 80's. My fibro is going to appreciate that. I still can't believe this is happening.

I love shopping at Goodwill! There is one in Naperville, Illinois that has a lot of name brand clothing at a cheap price. I'm not really into huge name brands, but sometimes the quality is just so much better than other brands. So if I spend $5 on a pair of pants and it's Ann Taylor...well, I know I have a great pair of pants that will last a lot longer than a pair I could buy at Kohls or Target. :)

Ang, I hope the trip goes very well! I've always wanted to visit Australia and we thought we'd get a chance, but now the sister company of where my husband works is in Brisbane and they're not faring so well with the floods :(

@LilLamb my cousin used to work at that particular store and my soon-to-be cousin-in-law got a sofa there for literally $4. I'm theoretically heading up there for her shower this month. I got family in Naperville (they live next to the Amtrak station).

Wow, that's an awesome deal! Be prepared to spend time sifting through racks and racks!!! There are only 3 dressing rooms too and there is usually a long line. But I love that there IS a dressing room! We have a shop that is similar to that one locally with no dressing room so you take you chances on what you buy.

oh my gosh - i absolutely ADORE thrift-store shopping!!! when my kids were babies, i could go to CHOC thrift store (Children's Hospital of Orange County) and get them huge trash bags FULL of clothes, most of them name brand (i don't care about that, but how can you pass down a gymboree outfit for $1.25??), all of them AWESOME condition, for NOTHING....

CHOC has since gone out of business (the thrift store anyway - i was in mourning, lol) but we have a salvation army here, and a goodwill in junction - it's the thrill of the hunt!!

I hit a lot of thrift stores. One has pants and jeans around $3, another has a bag sale everyday on clothes, $6 for a bag, one of those plastic grocery bags. All the good will stores that were close to me closed down. The Salvation Army stores have gotten outragous on some of there stuff. Clothes aren't to bad. Another one has tag sales every week. 20 to 70 percent off depending on what color tag and their stuff is reasonable.

At Lutheran churches you have to be a member to take communion right? At church today, the guy that goes by each row and tells people its their turn, motioned to me like he wanted me to go. But I think maybe he was confused and thought I was an actual member of the church.

Matt - it depends. With the LCMS it's varied. Since you don't have a Lutheran background then I would suggest taking the new member class first. Sometimes the LCMS opens it to baptized Christian who share the belief of Real Presence in communion. Our church is a bit more conservative. At any rate it probably would be good to talk to the pastor. They don't want the weight of anyone partaking in an unworthy manner on their heads. That's why some are so conservative.

I am going to guess that he thought you are already Lutheran. Just give a gentle nod no when they motion for you to go up.

Best thing to do is to speak with the Pastor. In the LCMS, one is suppose to be Lutheran as well as LCMS. Pastors can and do make exceptions.

Maybe it is time for you to take that step and become a member.

It's hard to keep track of who is a member and who isn't sometimes :)

I've been at my church for 10 years now and still feel weird going up to new people I haven't seen to talk...because I don't know if they're really new or just members I have yet to meet! LOL

Thanks. I am going to become a member this summer(probably sometime in May). I don't think now is a good time but I enjoy going to my lutheran church, its a good one. I couldn't ask for a better pastor, hes really good at what he does.
