  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Things to consider about the Ten Commandments

What does the bible say about the Ten commandments

  • It is abolished for christians

  • Cristians should keep the Ten Commandments, not to be saved but because they are saved.

  • Jesus kept the Ten commandments so I don't have to keep it.

  • It was for Israel only and not part of the new covenant.

  • Don't know.

  • Don't care.

  • Christians should only keep some of the Ten Commandments

You act like every verse is a stand alone verse totally independent of even those in the same narrative.

You read invisible words that are not written; some people call that dishonesty. It is not written in heb 10 that the first covenant was taken away; bottom line; period.

1 Cor 4

6 Now in what I have said here, brothers, I have used myself and Apollos as examples to teach you not to go beyond what the Tanakh says, proudly taking the side of one leader against another.

Hagar was sent away with Abraham's firstborn, Ishmael; father of Jethro.
Yup... and we see no proof of them keeping the 10 commandments in the bible from that point on. I would like your idea of who Hagar's descendants were and then tell me they are keeping the 10 commandments today if you can.

This contradicts the narrative that progresses in the epistle to the Hebrews.
  • The Law demanded a change (metathesis, denoting a change in location)(Hebrews 7:12)
  • It was annulled (v.7:18)
  • It was charged with a fault that called for a new covenant (v.8:7)
  • The first covenant was rendered obsolete and ready to vanish away (v.8:13)
  • Jesus redeemed our transgressions under the first covenant and is now the Mediator of the new covenant (v.9:15)
  • He took the first covenant away by His own Hand, in order to establish that new covenant (v.10:9)

Where do you get this from? Please show where its good in God's sight to sin.

Voila! My point exactly.

Sin = transgressing God's Law.

Sin would not exist unless God's Law exists.

Cain could not be a murderer unless God's Law states "do not murder"!
Sodom and Gomorra cannot be destroyed for sodomy, unless God's Law prohibits homosexuality!
King Abimilech would've not need to confess to the sin of adultery, unless God's Law prohibits adultery.

Hmmm! I don't read bring to obedience of the law. Is there a reason for this?

Are you remotely saying the law is faith?

I don't understand how this directly applies to you?

6 But now the work Yeshua has been given to do is far superior to theirs, just as the covenant he mediates is better. For this covenant has been given as Torah on the basis of better promises.

“‘See! The days are coming,’ says Adonai,
‘when I will establish
over the house of Isra’el and over the house of Y’hudah
a new covenant.

I hope you realize this deflection comes across as a concession of the mistake you made in your previous post.

So you would disagree with the fact that Gentiles, strangers, foreigners and Egyptians all entered into a covenant with the God of Israel at Mt. Sinai?

...and again when Joshua re-committed the covenant in Joshua?
Your argument is they did and thus aren't strangers and a mixed multitude any longer according to the Book of the Law.

Be honest, do you obey Moses? Why don't you obey Moses?

Luke 16
31 So Abraham said, “If they won’t pay attention to Moses and the prophets, they won’t listen even to someone who comes back from the dead.”
Sure thing. I don't obey Moses. You suggest I do by incidence. That's pure unadulterated straight up hogwash.

Whether they keep the holy commandments or not, doesn't exempt you from keeping them. Eve ate the forbidden fruit, so I guess Adam thought it was ok to eat it. Do you behave like Adam and Eve?
This is unrelated to the commandments given to Moses at Sinai. I don't consider myself just exempt but I consider the commandments irrelevant to Christians they are only useful for historical purposes as we were never bound by them in the first place. It is like telling US citizens we must keep ancient Roman Law because some of our Legal system traces roots in ideology back to their legal systems, some of our laws are the same as theirs were therefore we are obligated to keep Roman Law.

Thank you for you honesty, you don't obey Moses. I accept Genesis to Revelation as gospel truth.

Luke 16
31 But he replied, ‘If they won’t listen to Moshe and the Prophets, they won’t be convinced even if someone rises from the dead!’”
