Hell is a concept perceived by men. It is not part of the original teaching of Judaism. The Hebrew word Sheol translated into English is "Grave."

No evidence! No substantiation! No documentation! Repeating your assumptions/presuppositions over and over does not make them any more valid. I posted evidence that the Jews from the time of Moses believed in "Hell" a place of conscious eternal punishment for those who reject God. You rejected it without providing any evidence of your own.

You guys must think that I am just voicing my opinion. Let me say it again: The word "Sheol" TRANSLATED into English is the word "Grave." The word "Hell is an INTERPRETATION. And that is a FACT. If the soul (body and spirit) that sins dies, then how is it that there is life in hell?
Genesis 18:25
Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
Isnt that an amazing piece of Scripture!?
Our God is just! I just love how Abraham
continues to bargain with God! :clap:

17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. http://christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=49897256#_ftn1

how many times do I have to say it:

sheol is NOT hell

sheol is the abode of the dead at this current time that is somehow spiritually connected to the earth

sinners and righteous alike dwell awaiting resurrection

the lake of fire is "hell"

Interesting ideas guys.
God would never send His children to 'hell'.
But are all of them/us, "His" children?

:confused:

Hell or Hades, both are known in the Pagan religions as the abode of the dead. I re-edited this post because you are correct: Sheol, the GRAVE, is a place for the dead.

hades was substituted for sheol in greek translations because it was already so well known as the abode of the dead due to mythology

sheol is from hebrew scripture(like I said 1 enoch is probably the first scripture to ever be written)

have you ever read enoch? its hard for me imagine someone reading that book and still believing hell and angels to be false given that it seems to focus on both more so then any other scripture I've read

Yes, I have studied the book of Enoch. The book also states that it is a parable. And again the word sheol means grave, and the word mal'ak means messenger. I also study the dead sea scrolls. My book edited by RH Charles also has special marking by corrupted scripture from Gnostics.

I believe the mention of parables is because its impossible to describe the heavens in physical language so Enoch uses earthly symbolism to describe what hes seeing

from the epistle of the apostles(new testament apocrypha)

27 For to that end went I down unto the place of Lazarus, and preached unto the righteous and the prophets, that they might come out of the rest which is below and come up into that which is above; and I poured out upon them with my right hand the water (?) (baptism, Eth.) of life and forgiveness and salvation from all evil, as I have done unto you and unto them that believe on me. But if any man believe on me and do not my commandments, although he have confessed my name, he hath no profit therefrom but runneth a vain race: for such will find themselves in perdition and destruction, because they have despised my commandments.

Matthew 12

40for just as (AR)JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will (AS)the Son of Man be (AT)three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
