Not much of a response when your entire post has been proven false. And have you ever noticed all your supposed proof is from an almost 50 year old encyclopedia which no longer exists and can't be verified? Please do note the etymology of the word, in particular from ME to OE. NOT Gk mytholgy.

And OBTW do you know what the Latin word for dog is? Canis! And the name Rome comes from Romulus one of the orphans whom legend says was raised by a wolf at the site of Rome.
Again I would like to thank you for your support. Thanks :thumbsup:

Sometimes different translations can make a verse more obtuse.

For example in Reve 17:16 if you use the NKJV it says it is the 10 horns ON the beast that will hate the Harlot.
But if you use the NASB it will say both the 10 horns AND the beast will hate her.

Don't know how much of a difference that makes but just one of the many "quirks" I came upon while translating that book. Thoughts?

Reve 17:16 And the ten horns which thou saw and/*upon the beast, these shall be hating the Prostitute and desolate/hrhmwmenhn <2049> (5772) they shall be making Her and naked and the fleshes of Her they shall be eating and Her they shall be burning in fire

NKJV) Revelation 17:16 "And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.

NASB) Revelation 17:16 "And the ten horns which you saw and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire.

Most people know how to read, and some people study what they read. But very few people learn to read between the lines.

Jude

1. Jude, a servant of Yahshua the Messiah, and brother of James, and to them that are sanctified by Yahwah the Father, also called and saved by Yahshua the Messiah.
2. May mercy, peace, and devotion, be multiplied to you.
3. Loved, I was eager to write to you about the salvation we share, it was nessesary for me to write to you, and encourage you to earnestly contend for the faith that was given to the saints.
4. Because you are unaware that certain men have sneeked in, who are of a ancient order to their condemnation, these ungodly men turn the grace of our God into immorality, and deny that the only God is Yahwah, or that our lord Yahshua is the Messiah.
5. I will remined you although you once knew this, how Yahwah, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that did not believe.
6. Those messengers did not keep their first estate, and they were removed from their place, and He has reserved for them everlasting chains of darkness for that great day of judgment.
7. Just like Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in the same manner, they gave themselves over to fornication, and strange flesh.
8. And they will suffer the vengeance of eternal fire, as a set example; As also along with these filthy dreamers who also defile their flesh.
9. They say evil things about dignitaries and despise their dominion, they say evil things about what they know nothing about.
10. But what they do know naturally like brute beasts; In those things they have corrupted themselves.
11. Woe to them! they have gone the ways of Cain, and have ran greedily after the errors of Balaam for a reward, and perish like in the rebellion of Korah.
12. They are blemishes at your devotions, without fear they eat with you, only to feed themselves; They are clouds without rain, carried about by winds; pulled up by the roots they are trees whose fruit has withered before harvest, twice dead;
13. Like raging waves of the sea, whose foam is to their own shame; They are wandering stars, for whom is reserved the blackest of darkness for ever.
14. And Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied about them, saying, look, the Lord is coming with tens of thousands of his saints,
15. To execute judgment upon them, and to convince all of the ungodly among them of their ungodly deeds, which they have committed, and all of their hard words spoken by the ungodly sinners who have spoken against Him.
16. These complainers are grumblers walking after their own lusts; and their mouths speak with great words of pride, having the admiration of men because of some personal advantage.
17. Loved, do you remember the words which were spoken of before; by the disciples of our lord Yahshua the Messiah;
18. How they told you there would come mockers in the last days, and how they would walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19. Not having the Spirit; these are the people who divide you by their lust.
20. But your love builds you up in your most holy faith, praying to the Holy Spirit,
21. Keep yourselves as Yahwah's devoted, looking for mercy from our lord Yahshua the Messiah for eternal life.
22. Make a difference and have compassion.
23. Save others without fear, by pulling them from the fire; hate even the cloths stained by the flesh.
24. He is able to keep you from falling, and present you faultless before his present glory with great joy,
25. And to the only wise God and Saviour, be glory,majesty, dominion and power; To both now, and forever. Truly.

What do you think the word Vatican means? I have noticed that although it is a compound word, no dictionary or encyclopedia states that. I have also noticed that they avoid saying what that word means.

These quotes are from the Encyclopedia Americana,1961 edition.
"Words are frequently changed in an entirely arbitrary way, just for the sake of change, as is the case with taboo, and cant. The purpose is to deform the word in any possible way and render it unrecognizable."
"Cant ,the secret language of a corporation or class of persons, such as criminals, hoboes, students, soldiers, railroaders, conspirators, and the like." This quote should have also included secret societies.
"Canopus. In Egyptian mythology, a water god, represented on vessels of a spherical shape." That is, the shape of a serpent.
"Cannibalism, Kan/i/bal/ism, a customary, socially approved practice, among certain barbarous peoples, of eating human flesh." "The fact that the older, learned term "anthropophagy" derives from the classic Greek anthropos (man) , and phagein (eat), suggests that from ancient times barbarous peoples were known to eat human flesh, or at least were accused of doing so."

Here is a list of proper names of some snakes.

Apostolepis: nick name, messenger snake.
Acanthophis: Adder's.
Canna, Pseudaspis: Mole snake.
Candidus, Bungarus.
Candoia: #1. Aspera, #2. Bibroni, #3. Carinata.
Caninus, Corallas: Emerald tree boa.
Cantherigerus, Alsophis.
Cantil, Agkistrodon bilineatus.
Cantori, Trimeresurus.
Canum, Gyalopion: Western hook-nosed.
Canus, Tropidophis.

The word "Church" is not in scripture.

The word "Assembly and Congregation" are INTERPRETATED as Church. Now what do you think of that?

If you will take notice, the word Church is not used in the Old Testament. The word Ekklesia is used 114 times, and mostly as an INTERPRETATION for Church and a few times as Assembly or Congregation. The word Church is an INTERPRETATION were as Assembly or Congregation would be a TRANSLATION.

The ecclesia or ekklesia was the principal assembly of the democracy of ancient Athens during its Golden Age (480-404 BCE). It was a gathering place for politicians and voters.

CHURCH OR EKKLESIA

This is the word used in most English versions as a rendering of the New Testament's Greek word ekklesia. Ekklesia really means "a calling out", a meeting or a gathering. Ekklesia is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew qahal, which means an assembly or a congregation. Neither ekklesia nor qahal means a building.

Tyndale, in his translation, uniformly translated ekklesia as "congregation" and only used the word "'churches" to translate Acts 19:37 for heathen temples! Whence the word "church", then? Ecclesiastical sources give the origin as kuriakon or kyriakon in Greek. However to accept this, one has to stretch your imagination in an attempt to see any resemblance. Also, because kuriakon means a building (the house of Kurios=Lord), and not a gathering or meeting of people, as the words ekklesia and qahal imply, therefore this explanation can only be regarded as distorted, even if it is true.

Our common dictionaries, however, are honest in revealing to us the true origin. They all trace the word back to its Old English or Anglo-Saxon root, namely circe. And the, origin of circe? Any encyclopedia, or dictionary of mythology, will reveal who Circe was. She was the goddess daughter of Helios, the Sun deity! Again, another form of Sun worship, this time the daughter of the Sun deity, had become mixed with the Messianic Faith.

Some interesting facts emerge from the study of the word circe. The word is related to "circus", "circle", "circuit", "Circean", "circulate", and the various words starting with circum-". The Latin pronunciation could have been "sirke" or "sirse". The Old English word circe may have been pronounced similarly to "kirke", or even "sirse".
However, Circe was in fact originally a Greek goddess where her name was written as: Kirke, and pronounced as such — just as in numerous similar cases of words of Greek origin e.g. cyst and kustis, cycle and kuklos, cylinder and kulindros. The word "church" is known in Scotland as kirk, and in German as Kirche and in Netherlands as kerk. These words show their direct derivation from the Greek Kirke even better than the English "church".

However, even the Old English circe for "church", reveals its origin.
Let us rather use the Scriptural "Assembly" or "Congregation", and renounce the word that is derived from Circe, the daughter of the Sun deity which is worshiped even today on the day of the Sun, Sunday!

Circe, daughter of the well known Sun deity Helios. This "Circe" is the identical Old English word for "Church". See any dictionary.

Good morning people.

A very interesting fact becomes apparent when reading this post. It is the fabrication by somebody who does NOT know anything about the Greek language. There is NO letter "C" in Greek.

All we have here is "This word sounds something like that word so it must have been derived from it."

Interesting as I never noticed that myself [how embarrasing ehehe]

So why do english translation use a "C" if it is a "K" in the greek such as "Cana" in John 2:1.

NKJV) John 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

I don't know, but the only time it is a problem is when people start trying to paganize the Christian faith because this or that word in English looks or sounds something like some other word in Greek, or Hebrew, etc..

There is a creature that has webbed feet like a duck, it swims in water like a duck, it lays eggs like a duck, it has a beak like a duck, but not only is it not a duck, it is not even a fowl it is a marsupial, a Platypus. All those similarities does NOT make it a duck or a fowl.

Irrelevant! All this is saying is, "This word, in English, sounds or looks like something or other in another language so it must be derived from the other word."

Yes, Latin 'c' maps to the Greek kappa. The word church has nothing to do with Circe, though.

His argument is that it sounds something like the Greek deity Circe, i.e. Kirke, so the word church "must" have came from the Greek deity. "And if anybody can't see that, then too bad for you."

Revelation 1

1. This is the Revelation from Yahshua the Messiah, which Yahwah gave to him, to show to his servant things which must soon come and pass; and he sent it signed by his messenger, from his servant John;
2. He testifies that this record is the word of Yahwah, by the testimony of Yahshua the Messiah, about all of these things seen.
3. Bless them that read this, and those that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep the things which are written within; for now is the time.
4. John; To the seven churches which are in Asia; Grace and peace to you, from Him which is, and was, and is to come; your Seven Spirits are before His throne;
5. And from Yahshua the Messiah, who is a trustworthy witness, and the first begotten from the dead, and King of the princes on earth. He loved us, and washed us from our sins by his own blood.
6. He has made us kings and priests for his God and Father; and for His glory and dominion for ever and ever. Truly.
7. Watch, he will come through the clouds; and every eye will see him, and also them who pierced him; and all peoples of the earth will cry out because of him. Even so, Truly.
8. I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, said Yahwah, which is, and was, and is yet to come, the Almighty.
9. I John, am also your brother and companion in tribulation; and patiently awaiting for The Kingdom of Yahshua the Messiah. Im on the island called Patmos for the word of Yahwah, and for the testimony of Yahshua the Messiah.
10. I was in the spirit on Yahwah's day, and heard behind me a loud voice, like a trumpet,
11. Saying, write in a book what you see and send it to the Seven Churches that are in Asia; To Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamum, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.
12. And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And as I turned, I saw Seven golden Lampsticks;
13. And in the middle of the Seven Lampsticks was someone like the Son of Man, clothed with a robe down to his feet, and tied about the chest with a golden sash.
14. The hair on his head was like wool and whiter than snow; and his eyes were like flames of fire;
15. And his feet were like fine brass burning in a furnace; and his voice was like the sound of many waters.
16. And he had in his right hand Seven Stars; and out of his mouth came a sharp two edged sword; And his appearance was like the sun shining full strength.
17. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as if dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Do not be afraid; Im the First and the Last;
18. Im alive, and was dead; But look, Im alive for evermore, Truly; and I have the keys to death and the grave.
19. Write about these things you have seen, the things which are now and in the future.
20. The mystery of the Seven Stars you saw in my right hand, and the Seven golden Lampsticks, is this.The Seven Stars are the messengers of the seven churches; and the Seven Lampsticks which you saw are the seven churches.
[/QUOTE]

Revelation is full of parables. I have said many times that the word "fire" and others like it are used to mean judgment.
Genesis 18:25
Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
If Yahwah kills the wicked, then how is there life in hell?
Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul (spirit). Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul (spirit) and body in hell (Geenna).
If the spirit is dead, how is there any life in the fires of Gehenna; the city dump outside of Jerusalem, where the fires burned day and night?
Since the death of those spirits whom Yahwah kills is forever, then how do they come alive to live in hell?

Jude

1. Jude, a servant of Yahshua the Messiah, and brother of James, and to them that are sanctified by Yahwah the Father, also called and saved by Yahshua the Messiah.

Whatever you choose to conclude is of your own doing, not ours. Perhaps some of us are tired of reading the same thing over and over and have sought out better discussions.

Whatever you choose to conclude is of your own doing, not ours. Perhaps some of us are tired of reading the same thing over and over and have sought out better discussions.
I suppose that if a person is not very good at solving a riddle, that it would be best for them to move on to other things. Most people know how to read, and some study what they read. But very few learn to read between the lines.
