• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am struggling with being a lesbian and I am so happy I found this page. I am having a war inside of me about accepting or trying to change my sexuality. I am also having a war inside of me about my faith. It can be so confusing sometimes. I am not sure if being a lesbian is a sin or if I should just be happy follow Jesus Christ and spend the rest of my life with a female. I get irritated a little when I see that people say homosexuality is a sin but than it also makes me think. I think that if it is a sin. Will this sin be worth spending eternity in Hell for? My answer is no. So I hope this will help me grow spiritually and as a person. I know I can not do this alone. So I would really appreciate your help and support and possibly advice. Thank you. :)

I'm fairly inexperienced with this struggle, but I think I can try to point you in a direction for finding answers.

There are two posts on my blog that explain a little bit about God's design for human sexuality and why he designed things the way he did. I try to focus especially on why that is a good thing that he designed it that way. It's not primarily about what's right and wrong but what brings God the most glory when we find our greatest joy in him.

<edit> The posts are titled "What is Sexual Immorality?" and "Where Did God Get the Idea for Sex?"

That said, it is not a sin to be tempted by those desires. But it is a sin to go against the way God designed you. But remember, dear sister in Christ, there is no condemnation for those who are in Jesus. He freely offers forgiveness without any judgment and gives you power for a new life.

You're in my prayers. Your brother in Christ,
Peter

I may not be a woman, but I do know what it's like to be tempted with thoughts about men sexually. Until I began college, I didn't think it was actually possible to be free from homosexuality until I met one of my good friends, and then two years later, I began witnessing the freedom that I had hoped for and heard for so long. Now, to God be the glory, I'm attracted to women, not because of physical or emotional attributes, but because of the godliness I see in them.

There is hope, and if you truly are serious about putting an end to lust and the chains of sin, check out settingcaptivesfree.com. I took a course with them once (Door of Hope was the name), and God is doing great work through them, and I praise Him and thank Him so much for sending me to them when I had the chance to understand more about homosexuality, sexual immorality, accountability, radical amputation, and really understanding why and how God gets the glory for all of it.
