  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I dont see God allowing His people to suffer a nuclear attack. But the secular government Israelis don't really know that and have to prepare for it. Stutznet is a good first attack at Bushier imo.

So no Christians in Nagasaki?

another continent heard from. care to explain your comment or should we just guess?

Sorry, you did say "I dont see God allowing His people to suffer a nuclear attack. "

Didn't the Christians (God's People) suffer a nuclear attack in Nagasaki?
Or are Christians not God's People?

In the context I wrote -Israel and the Jews are Gods people. Scripture shows that during the Ezekiel 38 war God will supernaturally defend and defeat the enemies of Gods people (again HIS words meaning the Jews in Israel)

I really don't know if Nagasaki had many Christians. Nagasaki being home to a large military training facility at the time and the one-industry horse in town at the time, the mainstay of the population either was military, family of military or business supporting that military. We may never know if any Christians lived there at all.

As I said, God by His word in scripture will not allow His people, the Jews, to suffer nuclear harm.

Whats wrong PGP, you dislike Israelis?

You you said And I Quote

I'm just showing you that given.
Acts 10:34 said:
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

That He will allow his people to suffer nuclear harm, as He has allowed it before.

Now if you read this and come to the conclusion that I don't like Israelis, I can't help you, but you'd be wrong.

That would be true if you don't believe that God had His finger on the whole thing directing it along and putting the numbers were He wanted them to be.

That, as far as I'm concerned, creates more problems than it solves. For example: differences in verse divisions of the Psalms.

I certainly believe the Bible has come together through the Providence of God, but there isn't exactly complete unanimous consent on--say--things like the Deuterocanonicals or the above example of the Psalms within the universal body of Christ. And then there's discussion on things such as the various manuscript families, Byzantine, Alexandrian Caesarean, etc; or in the case of the OT/Tanakh we have the DSS, the LXX and the MS--and which offer the better readings and renderings of the original author.

My faith in God, certainly, isn't bothered by any of this, or my faith in the inspiration of Holy Scripture. Though it does mean that I have a hard time thinking that trying to find cryptic and esoteric meaning in verse numbering schemes is a fruitful exercise that aids in theological contemplation or in trying to properly exegete God's written word.

It might be worth pointing out that a Jewish community of Russian descent emigrated to Nagasaki around the end of the 19th century, though many moved to Kobe in the 20's. I couldn't tell you whether or not any Jews were killed in the atomic attack on Nagasaki, but it's worth mentioning the possibility.

I never said Iran will nuke Jerusalem. Iran will probably nuke Tel Aviv. Anyhow Iran will have nukes by 2012, and at the rate things are going, Islamic radicals will probably gain conrol of the nukes in Pakistan by 2012. And it is possible that Russia, another nuclear armed nation of the east, will be on the wrong side in the Battle of Ar Mageddon.

Surely you're familiar with the concept of MAD:

Mutual assured destruction - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here is my opinion on Iran and acquiring nukes. What would you do if you were in control of Iran? I'd be trying to develop nukes as fast as possible for 2 reasons:

1. My enemy, Israel, has them (see MAD above).
2. The nations in the competing world system have nukes and they are chomping at the bit...they've got Iran surrounded.

So, a nuclear Iran puts them at the bargaining table. I don't think they are interested in nuking anybody in the same way we're not interested in nuking anybody. Then again...we are the most warring nation in the world and have killed 10s of thousands of innocent civilians over the past 9 years. Wait...who is the only country to use nukes in war??????
