Oh, ID is actually pretty tame, Lynn. You should go over to the Apologetics forum of Rapture Ready some time. The anti-Catholic hatred over there gets knee-deep on occasion; some of those people are absolutely pathological.

From what Wols and others have said about RR, the "regulars" set up the Catholics on the target range, and then the mods shoot 'em down. Lovely place, sterling example of Christian love and charity.

These Sola Scriptura cliques one day need to wake up and understand that literacy is a relatively MODERN concept. Whether they like it or not, Great-great-great Granddad was TAUGHT "The Good Book" through Pastor Billy-Bob's personal brand of "Sacred Tradition."

But that's not the point.................

To Angel:

The only thing I know that eating ice might mean is anemia. Eating weird things (some people eat clay, starch, and other ??????s) is something called "Pica," and it can be indicative of anemia.

It's also MURDER on dental work.

However, it's a great stress reliever, especially in the summer!

Peace,

Ok, maybe I'm not supposed to post here, so delete this if you wish, but I need to talk a little bit.

I know that you guys have been going through a lot in Interfaith, and I know I might have been discourteous at times, and I'm sorry. I'm starting to understand the pain that you guys are feeling, esp. you VOW.

As some of you may know, I'm Calvinistic, and while I believe I follow some of the earliest protestant doctrine that came into effect, I'm receiving some punishment from other protestants and "nondenominationals". Some of this stuff is bad; it really hurts! The other day, I heard that somebody had said something to the effect of "Calvinism is satanic"; the thread had been deleted before I saw it. The way I learned about it was another thread that was opened entitled "hypercalvinism". A few of the posts danced and danced and danced around Calvinism as being satanic, but, of course, they never outright connected the two. I responded, explaining how insulting it was, but then it was turned around back on top of me and left me feeling like a big dumb bag o' duh. :(

I'm sorry you guys have to go through bad stuff sometimes, and I promise I'll try my best never to make you guys feel bad again. :(

The Rapture Ready board is so much worse than this because there are (a) more anti-catholics, and (b) the moderators support (and participate in) the anti-catholicism rather than stopping it.

I'm very happy with the mods on this board and their stance on the anti-catholicism.

I am tired of hearing that apostolic tradition is just man made tradition that humans use to try to supercede the scripture. No matter how many times you explain the doctrines, they continue with that utter nonsense.

To Joe:

You are more than welcome here!

And the freezer door is always capable of being opened, LOL. It's a FINE place to come, to cool down a hot head, chill your mood, and you can also scream to your heart's content.

(ignore the claw marks on the wall....)

Peace and popsicles,

You can hang out here, Joe, so long as you promise to buy a round every now and then.

And I will say this for Rapture Ready: some of the regulars there really do give a lot of support to the "total depravity" doctrine! :D

I know it's painful when your faith is insulted. I think it hurts more when it comes from a fellow Christian.

Yeah. Tell me about it! I've been told I'm not Christian, and even Satanic, somewhere between four and six times since I got here. (That's assuming that being one of the "false teachers" described in the New Testament would count against my credentials as a Christian.) It can be pretty stressful.

When I first read the "announcement" in interfaith, I was sorta worried that this was some kind of weird pro-Catholic bias. Little did I know! I have been *SHOCKED* by the level of abuse you people put up with. I just don't get it. I don't know that I've ever met a Christian with whom I agreed about every point of doctrine, but I try to avoid calling them false teachers, or tools of Satan.

Nietzsche said it best: God is dead, the Christians killed him. People aren't turning away from God; they're being *turned* away, mostly by overzealous Christians.

On the whole, though, I wouldn't trade my brothers in Christ for the world; for every depressing story I hear, I hear a dozen stories beautiful enough to make me cry.

One thing you don't see here very often, but is really common over on RR, is to say at some point in an anti-catholic thread "Well, no matter. God will judge the Catholics for their heresy." (or something to that effect.) Very annoying.

Huh. Well... Let's approach this rationally. Heresy is false religious doctrine, right? Obviously, we're not talking about "there is no God" cases, because then, He wouldn't judge you. So, we have to be talking about some kind of theistic afterlife. So... it's gotta be some item of dogma or doctrine. Unless it's systematic rejection of the Holy Spirit, it's a forgivable sin. Since Catholics accept Christ and have faith, all forgivable sins are forgiven.

Hmm.

If by "judge" they mean "correct gently and accept with open arms", I guess they have a point.

I shouldn't worry about it, if I were you. We will all be judged for our sins, and it's not supposed to be a big deal.
