Knowing that children will sometimes be cruel to other children, we continue to have them anyway. We *know* that they will do harm, and that they will suffer, but we think the trade-off is worth it for existing.

I guess, I don't really *understand*, but it doesn't bug me. I don't think mice "suffer" in the same way people do; I also don't think God intends torture, He intends cats to learn to hunt better, and sometimes, if you don't know why it's there, it looks cruel, but there is no malice in it.

When tigers eat people, no commandment has been violated, no matter how much the people may object.

Animals aren't capable of malice. They only operate on training and instinct. They aren't able to act outside of those two things. If a cat plays with it's food, the only purpose is to learn the prey's behavior in order to hunt more efficiently. Many animals engage in what looks like 'play' but is really training. All carnivores carry a hunting instinct, no matter how domesticated they are, and they can't help but 'hone' their skills even though they may never have to use them for survival.

*sigh*. I thought of a funny, but I can't find a good place to use it. Please remind me: The next time I see someone use "popery" as an insult, I must remember to correct their spelling, and ask them what's wrong with mixed scents anyway.
