We all know by now the absolute panic created by the media are the virus. My question is how many do you all think really trust in God during all this? With all the panic I would say a small amount. While we treat the virus seriously we should not panic and be frightened as believers unless we are not and think we are.

Panic is always manufactured, but there is much more to this virus.

And, we already know from Daniel 11 that some of us will die by spoil, by captivity, by flame and by sword. Faith shouldn't be diminished if one gets this virus, or even dies from it.

I've just been to the supermarket this evening and shocked, but not entirely surprised, to find the toilet roll section completely empty. People are stockpiling in a panic - it's getting a bit silly now.

I am absolutely determined that I am not going to allow myself to be affected by all the hysteria and panic. If I have to hold on and not go for a few weeks, then so be it. There are far worse things that can happen.....

Hello @charsan, I agree. Caution and concern are appropriate responses for us Christians (whenever possible), panic and fear however, are not.

Here's part of a post that I found elsewhere online today. Though not about COVID-19, it does seem appropriate to share it in this thread as a reminder, of sorts.

People in Hawaii who were diagnosed with leprosy were exiled to an isolated peninsula attached to one of the tiniest and least-populated islands (Molokai). Details on the history of the colony—known as Kalaupapa—suggest that at least 8,000 individuals were forcibly removed from their families and relocated to Kalaupapa/the Kalaupapa Peninsula over a century ago, starting in the 1860s.

Father Damien is a canonized saint who contracted leprosy while living in Kalaupapa. Here are some of his thoughts.

I feel no disgust when I hear the confessions of those near their end, whose wounds are full of maggots...This may give you some idea of my daily work. Picture to yourself a collection of huts with 800 Lepers. No doctor; in fact, as there is no cure, there seems no place for a doctor's skill.

I make myself a leper with the lepers to gain all to Jesus Christ.

I would not be cured if the price of the cure was that I must leave the island and give up my work. I am perfectly resigned to my lot. Do not feel sorry for me.

In these parts where I live a forecast of 4 inches of snow causes most to stock up on two month's worth of bread and milk. I"m sure the sporting goods stores are fresh out of all varieties of ammo too. I'm putting my smart money on goldenseal. It did wonders for my seemingly chronic bronchitis years ago. It's a centuries old homeopathic remedy but does have proven antiviral and antibiotic properties and is used specifically for upper respiratory infections.

Leaves. There are plenty of leaves that work in an emergency. My siblings and I were a bit feral growing up always playing in the woods and building forts from branches and bark. We had our own toilet in a tree stump and leaves worked just fine. We did get a roll of toilet paper but left it out in the rain, so...

Having said that, people at my workplace are also stockpiling toilet paper, so I actually got some just to make sure I actually have some when I run out. It's hard to know how to respond to panic without joining in. I mean, I have to eat, so if people start buying up all the food of course I'm going to try to get something for myself before it's gone...

At the same time, I am trying to live by faith and I know that if my cupboards and the stores are both empty, God will provide I'm sure. And I have a garden already planted, thanks to the unusually mild winter this year.

I remember a time years ago when I was earning very little and I got slapped with some very heavy bills which I only just managed to pay. I had almost no money left until the end of the month and barely any food on the shelves, save for a few tins.

But God provided for me. I didn't have to phone anyone or complain about my situation. Surprise cards came through the post enclosing gift vouchers. I got invites to people's houses for meals. And finally, a couple took me into their own home.

Back then, I didn't have the luxury of having meals out. But I do remember sitting in a cafe overlooking the park, enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee - the only luxury I could afford. It was the best coffee I had ever tasted and I made it last. Sometimes when we don't take life for granted, we value each moment just that little bit more.

I wish more people understood that there wouldn't be such shortages in toilet paper if people weren't hoarding in the first place.

I'm not worried, God's not planning on taking me home yet... Even if I was sick (which I'm not) I wouldn't be worried.

It does have a higher mortality rate for people of an age (15%) or those with lowered immune systems or respiratory conditions, but I'm not in an area where we live like ants in an ant hill, or even an area things like this are likely to spread to although when my doctor goes to India for a visit and comes back he may end up being a carrier, who knows? (No one around here gets out much.. lol)

Either way I'm not worried, when it's my time to stop bothering you people God will take me out regardless of what I do or dont do.

Until then, you'll all just have to put up with me... lol

No one's stocking up on toilet paper around here.. no worries for my behind. If we run out I'll just use water...

They don't yet seem to have enough tests prepared. It's hard to track if they can't even test adequately. In Italy they have run out of intensive care space and are sending people home. When your lungs fill up with fluid one of the treatments is to induce coma and keep you face down on a table so your lungs can drain. The fear is that they wont be able to accommodate too many cases.
