I was reading about the unforgiveable sin, and I read that it was accusing the Holy Spirit of getting its powers through the devil, attributing its works to the devil.

Well number one I was mad one day and I cussed out God, I said F him and F the holy spirit and F jesus and later I asked for forgiveness.

After reading about the unforgiveable sin later that night I had a thought in my head that said the holy spirit gets its powers from the devil. i tried not to think it but i knew i was going to. so now i think im going to hell.

a thought counts as sin right, as blasphemy against the holy spirit. am i really going to hell now? i want the honest truth.

also the bible doesnt say that blasphemy against the holy spirit is attributing the works to satan its just what most people get out of "context" but how do they know they are right? it doesnt specifically say that.

pretty sure this ruins my entire life. how am i going to stand burning for eternity?

Don't worry about a fleeting thought taking away your salvation for it cannot do so. The blashmy against the Holy Spirit aka the unpardonable sin, is a rejection of the Holy Spirit. Not a fleeting thought but an out right rejection of God and the path to salvation that He created. Another way to put it is that the only sin that cannot be forgiven is rejecting salvation.

Hope that makes sense.

It is important to remember that the Pharisees had seen miracle after miracle by Jesus, yet they still refused to accept that He was the Son of God. They went so far as to attribute His power to the devil, so to dissuade those who would otherwise believe Jesus. In doing so they continued to deny the Holy Spirit and reject His power.

God knows we make mistakes. You didn't denounce your belief in God, nor did you say you rejected Jesus Christ.

What I think happened is you read something, and because of that you mind got to wandering and you thought about something you didn't really want to think about. God understands, we are all sinners by nature.

God still loves you, and he knows your heart. The mind has the tendency to be impure, but the heart does not =]

how can i know for sure? i hear on one hand you have to look at the context and it was about Jesus casting out demons and accusing him of having the powers of the devil and the holy spirit of having the powers of the devil.

But on the other hand it just says blasphemy against the holy spirit. its not specific. and blasphemy covers a lot of things like cursing.

im extremely depressed about all of this. i cant stand even a little heat, much less burning for ETERNITY.

The "unforgiveable sin" is not something that can be commited today. It was specific to that time period. It had to do with those of Jesus' day who had the witness not only of Christ among them, but of the things the Spirit was doing in their midst, and who knew that Christ had come from God (see Nicodemus' confession that they knew it) and yet they attributed His works to the devil and worked against Him.

Look in the context that this sin is mentioned, and Jesus when He condemns them and warns about the unforgivable sin goes and time after time after time condemns "this generation".

The only thing you can do today that will prevent your going to heaven is refuse to place your whole faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

If you had actually committed the unforgivable sin you wouldn't be concerned about it. Those who actually commit it don't care that they have done so because they have no regard for anything true concerning Christ. I wouldn't worry too much about committing the unforgivable sin. Now whether or not you are going to eternal damnation isn't up to any of us it is up to God. If you truly want to enjoy eternal bliss in the presence of the Son of God our Savior, wanting to escape Hell isn't going to cut it, seek Christ with all your heart. Find out who He is and what He has done and simply look to Him in faith. If you can trust Him as all your hope and acceptance with God you are saved. Getting religion will not save you. Saying a prayer will not save you. Making a decision will not save you. Reading your Bible from cover to cover will not save you. Giving all you have to the church will not save you. Faith in Christ as God's salvation is eternal life.

The unforgivable sin is as simple as this. The denial of Christ and the Holy Spirit. I feel that as long as you deny his Lordship over your life, you cannot be forgiven. However, I do not believe that this means you cannot turn away from this sin. More that, denying Christ is the worst thing you can do in your life. Just my take.

Blasphemy is a mocking and derision of God that proceeds from an attitude of disrespect and contempt, or hatred toward Him.

It's not a casual "slip of the tongue", nor a fleeting word uttered in ignorance or momentary anger.

Blasphemy is when we say an unholy thing about God, but I think He is more concerned that you feel so guilty. What you really need to do is do more studying on this topic and others. Study with a concordance what blasphemy is and look at the whole context of the situation, what happened between the Pharisees and Jesus. They weren't doing that because they were mad. They were doing that because they were evil and wanted to turn people away from Christ. When one rejects the gospel, and then starts turning people against Christ with knowledge and knows how to do so skillfully for hateful purposes, then they are in danger or saying things like, Jesus was full of the devil, etc. Jesus is Satan, or what not. These are scary things to say and not what God ever intended. Jesus is good and holy and righteous and just and good. But no weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that rises in judgment against you, you shall condemn. Get in the word and learn to attack whatever problem you're having at it's root, by studying it. Find words in your concordance that go with the topic, and look up Scriptures, write them out, commit them to memory, and every time you feel scared, confused, doubtful, condemned, etc. let your mind search for those words in your heart and then say or think them. It works well and will make you a spiritual giant. Nothing can fight the word. Let's say you are feelin sad suddenly. Immediately think "Rejoice in the Lord, always, and again I say, rejoice." And "The joy of the Lord is my strenghth". And then The LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?" It works. It has to be a constant thing. Ask God for wisdom and He will help you.

I used to think I had blasphemed the Holy Spirit and have much knowledge on this topic. So if you need some help from me, message me. I'd love to encourage you and be a friend. God bless you son. - Matty D
