He's quite an intellectual, and he's GREAT with kids. His eyes light up with the children and he's just wonderful. He always tells my daughter, "my own sister is named Veronica back in Serbia!"
Reminds me of the priestmonk who is our traveling confessor - though lately he's been traveling over the world doing other things. He's wonderful with children though and they are always following him around. Usually they end up singing together. Actually he has that kind of relationship with non-Orthodox or non-believers - I see videos all the time where he ends up singing or dancing with them and they are hugging him after. He's a good confessor but his gifts especially lie elsewhere I think. Maybe that's why we haven't seen him in so long.

We're getting a visit from Archbishop Alexander next month. He's coming for the parish 20 year celebration and he's going to ordain our new priest. It's going to be an exciting time. I really don't want our priest to retire but we're all really excited about our new priest and Matushka. I love that in the Orthodox Church that you know your Bishop and Priest are there for the long haul

I remember in the Catholic Church I'd FIIIINALLY like a priest and it never failed....the guy was transferred out of our parish after a few months....then another would come that was lousy, another one, lousy, another lousy one, then you'd get a great/very pastoral priest, gone in six months. When we went Anglican, our rector was consistent, but the assistant priest position was constantly a revolving door. In Orthodoxy, they seem to stay a LOOOONG time. But our deacons have shifted many times.

Off topic, but that is this thread by nature! LOL.

My wife and I have been watching this show "Shetland" on Netflix, takes place in Scotland (obviously). Holy moly, Anhelyna!!! I cannot imagine what you go through living in Scotland! That place is dreary, gloomy, COLD, wet, and rough!!!

Is it good? I'm looking for something to watch.

I just finished Everwood (managed to stretch that one out about a year and a half - and Netflix dropped season 3 after I'd watched only the 1st disc! Fortunately found used one cheap on eBay).

I half-heartedly started watch 2 Star Trek series again, not sure which I wanted to stay with (DS9 and Enterprise) but I've seen it before. I've just seen it fewer times than the other series. I'm not really into it though.

After The Next Generation, I just can't stand anything that has "Star Trek" in front of it, I swear. Even TNG was getting goofy toward the end for me. I'm an old-school Trekker, baby.

You didn't like "Voyager", with Capt. Janeway & her 3rd rate Hepburn impression?

Honestly on TNG every time Wesley Crusher comes on the screen, I would cringe. Still do. Will Wheaton gives me the crawlies. Even in "Stand By Me." Just not a fan of the twerp!

There's a Picard TNG clip compilation on Youtube A take off on "Let It Snow", called "Make It So".. In between "lyrics", there's a clip where he says "Shut up, Wesley"...DOZENS of viewings later, I STILL cheer!

Yeah I think Star Trek went steadily downhill after late in the TNG series (which overall I love TNG). Basically the newer it is, the fewer times I've watched it. So Enterprise is at least almost new to me - I've run through it once (not glued to the screen either) some years ago. So it was worth a try for that. DS9 I remember most of but it manages to seem "new" here and there and I like some episodes. I hated Voyager when it first came out (actually I hated every Star Trek starting with TNG when it FIRST came out, because I always preferred the older stuff, but TNG won me over pretty quickly). But some of the characters - or more likely the odd balance of characters - on Voyager kind of grew on me. Like a fungus grows on something lol (j/k). But at best it's a love/hate relationship.

Having had LOTS of time shut away from society over the years and about 15 years + since I cared for watching network, I've run through some series over the years.

I hate the "theology" behind Star Trek and in the lyrics of one of my favorite rock bands---Rush. I have to pinch my nose during both, but holy smokes I love them both.

I'm not remembering Rush theology off the top of my head - but yeah, Star Trek theology is awful!

Rush—-very Ayn Rand and frequently fascinated with life being random chance with no direction....
