Truth is true because truth is consistent and unchangeable.
Of course 1 cor 7 "27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly and despised things of the world, and the things that are not,to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast in His presence"If it helps you to sleep at night I can guarantee nobody else thinks so.
Even Paul had a thorn in his flesh because of the abundance of revelation he was given so that he would not be conceited.
I said you spot a liar by their inconsistency. Everytime you talk to them they tell you a different story. The truth is always consistent and never changes. Every time they tell you the same story. They say a liar can not remember what lie they told so they will try to make up a different lie and their story is inconsistent.
The also have lie detector tests that pick up the inner turmoil and conflict. I think a lot of depression, anxiety and other psychological issues is due to inner conflict and people doing what they know to be wrong. Even cancer and a lot of diseases can be due to what they use to call bad humor or a person out of sorts or out of agreement with themselves.
I guess I can understand your point in how being stubborn can play a part in the process. They know what is right but because they are stubborn they persist in not doing what is good, right, proper and true. Even there are Christians that thing they are forgiven and they can get away with sin. Yet Paul says you will reap what you sow and we do suffer the consequences for our actions.
Only if they are a terrible liar.I said you spot a liar by their inconsistency. Everytime you talk to them they tell you a different story.
What about when two people are very consistent with their stories, but their stories conflict, so they can't both be right? Heck, one person could be mistaken about certain details, but no less convinced of their accuracy than the more accurate person. The truth is always consistent and never changes. Every time they tell you the same story. They say a liar can not remember what lie they told so they will try to make up a different lie and their story is inconsistent.
The lie detector test is, in and of itself, a lie. It doesn't actually work consistently. Basically put, a liar that keeps calm will fool the test into thinking they are being honest, and a truthful person that is stressed out (as just about anyone accused of a crime would be) will often cause the machine to register their truthful responses as lies. The also have lie detector tests that pick up the inner turmoil and conflict.
-_- no. This is simply incorrect. Stress can cause and worsen many health conditions, but it isn't a cause of cancer. Lying in and of itself definitely doesn't cause any diseases.Even cancer and a lot of diseases can be due to what they use to call bad humor or a person out of sorts or out of agreement with themselves.
So when a Muslim tells me the Quran is absolute truth, I should believe them too?
Christian claim that the miracles prove that they are abiding in the truth. I know a pastor who would invite people to his church and say if you do not see miracles and healing then don't come back. He believed the evidence of the truth in his preaching was the miracles and healings people received when he prayed for them after he preached the message.
Jesus is talking about seeds that are sown upon the ground. There maybe smaller seeds but they are not sown the way mustard seeds are.So Jesus said
With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth;
Is it truth (we know there are many smaller seeds) or did Jesus lie ?
We were talking about ways that people can know the truth. Jesus teaches us that the truth sets us free from the bondage of sin. Those who know the truth are free and those who do not know the truth are in bondage. That preacher can claim to believe whatever he likes.
Yes after 3500 years the Books written by Moses continue to be accurate and true. The Truth is consistent and does not change.
If you use fake numbers on a tax return the computer will spit it out and you risk being investigated. Computers can be programed to know what is fake and what is real.Only if they are a terrible liar.

The point was that, in some cases, the truth does indeed change over time
I think you make a fundamental error in your reasoning. While your statement above is true in a sense, it doesn't automatically follow that everything that is consistent is true. One could also lie consistently if they are a very good liar. Most well written novels are consistent, does that then make them true? We may expect consistency in truth but it's a logical fallacy to say all that is consistent is true.We all know when someone is telling the truth because the truth remains consistent and does not change.
Truth is a philosophical or religious concept not a scientific one. Science doesn't make truth claims. Science makes theories based on our best knowledge. Theories are not held beyond correction on the basis of new knowledge or information. It would indeed seem odd for textbooks not to be revised on the basis of new discoveries and knowledge. In this case the lack of change would could be taken as a rejection of truth. This can not be said for Darwin and a lot of what Science use to believe was true. Even our text books at the best universities are going through constant revision
Not a straw man. These kind of statements are known as temporally indexed truths. E.g. Today is 23rd October 2017. This statement is only true today and never again after that. So the date today is a constantly changing truth, as in there is new date every day. Alternately the statement "I was born in 1979" is eternally true and unchanging.Straw man statement where is your common sense. The truth is we elect a president every four years that is the truth and the outcome varies.
Archeology has spend over 100 years digging through the ruins of Bible sites and everything they find is consistent with the history we read in the Bible. For example they found * a Scytho-Iranian arrowhead, of the type used by the Babylonian army of Nebuchadnezzar that destroyed the First Temple in 586 BCE. Very few such arrowheads have been found in Jerusalem. http://tmsifting.org/sifting/media/inn14-4-05.htmcc There are plenty of artifacts found on the temple mount to verify that the history we read in our Bible is accurate and true.Prove it.
