  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I"m amazed when advocates of sola scripture have a problem with actually applying it

I have and will continue to form my opinion based on scripture and yet sola scriptura advocates usually have a problem with that and want me to conform to a doctrine

can you say hypocrisy?

as Orthodoxy pointed out in the last thread concerning this

my view is NOT modalism

I believe the father is separate from the son(I don't believe the son was literally the father)

he was the father only because he contained the same spirit...but the father remains in heaven separate "physically" from the son
You're not reading the posts. I was clearly not addressing you when I suggested a certain view was modalism. Please stop adding self-contradictory, argumentative, off-topic posts to this thread.

David333,

Honestly, at the stage you have reached I would suggest speaking with a Priest or perhaps even enrolling in a catechumen class. I have the idea that you would understand that there are certain things that are spoken of Apophatically.

We do not define the Trinity by saying what it is, but rather what it is not. The rest is mystery.

You have obviously read much of the ECF's which is great! You are on the correct track for obtaining the answers to the questions you seek.

Forgive me...

That's just wild! You exclude so much.

Chirst was not merely quoting scripture, the scripture quoted Christ through the spirit of prophecy. 1 Peter 1:10-11, Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.

I agree christ was not just quoting scripture

there was a separation from the father on the cross

the final proof of his divinity, even feeling something he had never felt before, separation from his father he remained obedient

I know if I were in that situation(like I could even get that far) I would be screaming and cursing at the 2 thieves etc :p

I didn't say he was "merely" qouting scripture. :D

It's not exclusion... It's inclusion.

Even upon The Cross Christ was teaching us. Pointing us to the Psalms.

There are "lots" of Psalms that work this way into the NT.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled thread. ;)

Forgive me...

nope I am willing to adjust if needs be

but the more I put my thoughts out there concerning this the more evidence I find confirming my beliefs

I spent a fair amount of time challenging myself(concerning this belief) and am fully willing to bite the bullet and accept when I'm wrong

in this case I am not
