  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Take a closer look at the other things Christ said on the cross and you will see he was not seperated from The Father.

Of course He wasn't. YHWH was always with Him and In Him, just as Jesus was in the Father.

Matthew 17:5 Still of-Him speaking, behold! a cloud, luminous upon-shadows them and behold! a Voice out of the cloud saying "this is the Son of Me, the Beloved, in whom I delight, be ye hearing Him!". [Deut 28/Acts 3:22]

Luk 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Luk 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

what does him giving up his spirit have to do with not being separated from him?

what you have to understand is that the father and jesus were one in spirit

there was a disconnect on the cross

the connection was cut off

he knew his spirit was ultimately in the hands of god he just felt completely and utterly alone(as if he were the worst of sinners)

jesus spent 3 days in sheol btw

he did not immediately go into heaven

u know how we feel when gods spirit is heavy in the room or within us for whatever reason

and then how much does it suck when we sin and feel a million miles away

well imagine being COMPLETELY one with that spirit(by perfect obedience) and then COMPLETE disconnect

WHILE suffering a horrible unfair death(basically feeling what he would feel if he had deserved it and more)

unimaginable

...that the Lord was not abandoned, but rather he was reciting a Psalm. This particular Psalm would be numbered 21 in an Orthodox Bible or 22 in most others. It begins with the words,”My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning? O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent” (NKJV). Many Psalms express similar thoughts of abandonment, but this Psalm goes beyond that.
But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
“He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him;
Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
Later it says, “They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.” To the Christian, clearly this psalm is a prophecy of the Lord’s crucifixion. Written a thousand years earlier, it expressed the suffering of God’s chosen one. We conclude that on the cross, the Lord was reciting a prophecy concerning his sacrifice.

There was no disconnect.

I want to direct all posters in this thread to CF's Statement of Faith located here.
CF supports the following as a statement of faith:

We worship one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Isaiah 44:6-8; Exodus 3:15). God is three divine persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who share one essence--the Trinity (John 6:27; John 1:1, 14; Romans 8:9; Hebrews 1:2-3).

Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ, the incarnate second person of the Holy Trinity, fully God and fully man (John 1:1, 14), by the Power of the Holy Spirit was born of a Virgin (Luke 1:35) and existed before all time begotten of God the Father (John 1:2; John 1:18). He was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) and is seated at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19). Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah (John 1:49; Matthew 16:16). His coming was foretold by the prophets of the Old Testament (Acts 3:18-23). He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead (Acts 10:42) and His Kingdom will have no end (2 Peter 1:11).

****All posts in this thread MUST conform to this standard. Thanks.****
So what is there to discuss you just told us what we must believe to speak on this subject?
