The Trinity - Help Me Understand

Hi,

I debated this a long while - I actually went one further and got led into Islam before finding my way back - over this issue

I think I've finally sorted it in my own head though

The trinity could be like a small company (imagine plumbers) - only 3 employees each with their own name and personality but each belonging to the same company - they can talk to one another and they can all be out on jobs at once but either way they always represent the company. One is good at problem solving so appears the more senior and even the others call him if they can't figure out the issue, the other is good at explaining the issue to the customer (or one who called in a fault) and so is often sent out for bigger, more complex jobs and the last is good at checking their isn't another problem that will result in a system failure as soon as they leave in the van - one company/entity with 3 differently skilled persons....

if you think about it this way then it makes perfect sense that the Son would call on the Father to help solve issues, and that they would send out the spirit to ensure that no future problems arise.

If God were one person, why would He have a face and be a relational entity? It makes more sense that God are persons.

The main Biblical argument against polytheism comes in Exodus, where Moses and the Pharoah ram their heads against each other. What would not have been lost on Pharoah here was how two gods who had complete animosity toward each other- the god of fire and the god of ice- were shown to be working in concert with each other against him.
The main argument for monotheism focuses on the unity of purpose and goals and ethics that the God of the ancestors of Moses demonstrates here, where all other 'gods' submit to his will and join in the common cause.
Trinity is corporate in that respect. Like the business that you describe there is unity of will and purpose in Trinity.
Trinity is not three gods in one. Trinity is one god, three persons, and more than that, the whole family of redeemed man atoned and therefore AT-One with that one God of israel.
