There were more than just ten commandments. There were, I believe, about 613 commandments. As we see in Galatians 3:10, "All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." If it were possible, one could attain righteousness by observing everything written in the book of the law. The point, however, is that it's not possible. At all. In and of himself, man cannot keep God's law, nor is he even inclined to do so. Our nature is more inclined to seek its own good, rather than seek God. The apostle Paul affirmed that "the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so" (Romans 8:7).sethsmommy said:I know some people belive that if you follow the ten commandments you'll go to heaven..
but everyone lies and one of the commandments is thou shalt not lie am I right...
Uh.. the 613 are found in the Pentateuch, yes. And they were given by God, yes. "Then the LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, 'Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them...'"ischus said:God did not give 613 commands... they were invented by the people. All of God's Commands are found in the Pentateuch.
By anything we do? Are we justified by anything we do? Are we righteous by anything we do? Are we sanctified by anything we do? Or does it all come from God? Is it God that justifies us? Through the righteousness of Christ? Are we sanctified by the indwelling Holy Spirit?marcie said:[The Bible] tells us Faith and Love produce good fruits for christ.

Under that covenant humans are to refrain from idolatry, adultery, murder, profaning God's name, injustice, robbery and mistreatment of animals (specifically cutting meat from an animal while it is still alive "with the blood still in it".)

First off Orthodox christians honor and believe in the OT AND the NT . We believe in the Trinity, or the Godhead 3 persons in one.
We as faithful Christians honor and obey the ten commandments of God that Jesus instructed us to do.
