What must we do as believers to overcome the world
1JOHN4 [1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.[2] Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:[3] And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.[4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Do you believe that Jesus came in the flesh? Do you also believe that he was tempted just as you or I am tempted? Do you believe that Jesus overcame the world and we as believers must also overcome? If you answered no to any of these questions, the above scripture points out that you have the spirit of antichrist.
REV.3 [19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.[20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.[21] To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.[22] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Repent! Overcome! I know these are not the smooth words the many enjoy hearing but these words will come to pass. According to the many theres nothing to repent of, as they claim we are not bound by Gods ten commandments, therefore there is no sin, as sin is the transgression of the law.
ISAIAH 30 [8] Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: [9] That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: [10] Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: [11] Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. [12] Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: [13] Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant. [14] And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters' vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit. [15] For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
The prophecy of smooth words has been fulfilled. The time has come and these people do not hear the law of the Lord. Thus saith the Holy One of Israel. Yup, Jesus Christ said that.
1 JOHN 5 [1] Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.[2] By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.[3] For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.[4] For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.[5] Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
So
.How do we know that we have overcome the world? Are the ten commandments to hard (grevious) to keep? If you answer yes to this question Id like to hear which ones so hard. Adultry? Killing? Which one is grevious to you? The sabbath?
