If democracy is not a factor, then what exactly was the purpose of this poll? I'm a little confused here.
To see what the people who post in the music forum want to do.
By not having a vote here there were 2 possiblities:

1. People who never post in here make the decision of this forum's placement.
2. The issue is ignored.

I do not think either 1 or 2 is good. And in this discussion our collective opinion is very important.
However, we do not run the show. But Erwin wanted to see what this forum felt about a possible move.
I probably did not make that clear enough in the OP, I apologize.
However, I do not think any members here think that CF runs as a democracy.

That's all well and good. But it seems that Erwin left this particular issue to 'the members'. :)

Do us a favor. Don't waste our time with useless polls.
If you view the thread where Ps139 talked with Erwin about the state of the secular forum, you will realize that the purpose of it was to see what we thought. I may be wrong, but I believe that Ps139 started this poll/thread to see what differing opinions/thoughts were so that Erwin could decide what to do.

Yes, Blackwasp, that was my understanding of it.
Larry - if Erwin sees the vote results, and sees that "Open" had more votes, and then decided to change it, great. Then we can say it is what more people voted for. I'm just saying that there is no guarantee he will do this, since this is not a democracy. I also think its likely he will want to discuss this with some of the mods. Who knows? I am grateful that he wants to know the forum's opinion, I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

Sounds good.

I apologize to all, for getting a little frustrated in all this.
No problem Larry. I got frustrated before too and it came through in my writing. I apologize too.

At this point I tell myself - "dont worry about it, its out of your hands."
I'm going away for the weekend, and when I come back, I'll check out and see what happened.

So, this whole thread and poll was an excersise in futility? What's the point?

The point would be to encourage discussion and to let the sight admin make a decision based on an informed understanding of the opinions of the posters I should imagine. I don't see that as a waste of time at all, even if the site admin then decides not to go with the polls outcome.

PS; Sorry I see my point has already been made, and that Larry has already agreed with the point. Late again, I do apologise folks, especaily to Larry.

haha ps139. maybe I'll find some bluegrass fans. But, i highly doubt it :)
You like bluegrass?
I do too. I really do now know many songs, but I love the style. Phish covers a Del McCoury song called "Beauty of My Dreams" its awesome. I also know "I saw the Light" "In the Pines" (Nirvana covered and slightly reworked this one) and "Uncle Penn" by Bill Monroe.

cool stuff. Bill Monroe started Bluegrass. He was amazing. Thats traditional bluegrass, when it gets going, it sounds awsome. I listen mostly to "progressive" bluegrass, or modern, i should say. Musicians like Bela fleck, Chris Thile, and Allison Kraus fall under that category. The stuff is just cool

You ever listen to Yonder Mountain String Band?? They're a current band, I guess you could call them prog-bluegrass, they're very good.
If you have a decent connection (anything but a modem) check this site - it has 3 of their shows in streaming audio.
http://web1.nugs.net/stash.asp?cmd=shows&artist=32
You can use Winamp or Windows media player to listen to them. If you like bluegrass you will like these guys.

Axver I am not surprised that you have never heard of bluegrass because it is not that popular and it is strictly American. Its the style of music developed in the Appalachian regions in America. I think the name "bluegrass" derives from the "Blue Mountains" of Kentucky or something like that. Thre is often a banjo, mandolin, dobro (I dont know what a dobro is but I know buegrass bands often use one) acoustic bass, maybe some pot or pan to bang on for percussion, the jug :D and some other stuff. There is a very characteristic bassline in bluegrass songs and its really cool. Check out that link above they are some good modern bluegrass.

im listening to them from that site. I like them. cool stuff. I like the voice.
The dobro is by far the coolest looking instrument in the world. Bluegrass was orginally called "mountain music" and was mostly heard on front porches until artist started traveling and performing. I know the name comes from Kentucky, maybe the mountains, or something about the grass, though I do not think it was blue :) I bought a mandolin, but was terrible at it. My brother picked it up and does pretty well, even though he hates bluegrass. My dad let me borrow his banjo. Im learning roles. its kind of fun, in a dorky sort of way. :)
