The Spirit of God rushed UPON Saul

1 Samuel 10:

9 As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart,

but not Saul's inner spirit

and all these signs were fulfilled that day. 10 When they came to Gibeah, behold, a group of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God rushed upon him, and he prophesied among them.

but not in him

and he joined in their prophesying.

This spiritual influence was not permanent. Eventually, 1 Samuel 16:

14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him.

Let this be a lesson for those who looked for only outward appearances of being filled with the Holy Spirit and not for the inner peace of the Indwelling Paraclete.

There is a marked difference between the Old Testament, where the Spirit of God came upon the King, Priest and Prophet and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit where our spirit and the Holy Spirit are one.
