This spiritual influence was not permanent. Eventually, 1 Samuel 16:and he joined in their prophesying.
On a more positive note, Judges 3:14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him.
Judges 11:10 The Spirit of the Lord came upon him [Othniel], and he judged Israel; he went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand.
Isaiah 61:29a Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah.
The Spirit/Paraclete dwells in a person permanently only after Jesus' death on the cross.1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.
