How stupid to get so close to the protestors. But, on the other hand, he was an untrained kid being macho and showing off his weapon in a scary situation he never should have been in in the first place. What the hell does a 17 year old kid need with an assault weapon in the first place?

First, it's not an assault rifle. An assault rifle by definition is capable of full auto fire. And it's the right of every US citizen to possess firearms. If he hadn't had it, he might have been the dead one.

Yeah, I saw reports of that. I don't condone it and I'm sorry another life was lost. Supposedly he was with one of the outside groups called Patriot Prayer there to cause trouble. A parade of them had been driving around all day macing protesters. I saw posts from one of the people who said he was a friend of theirs and that they were going to come back tonight. Protesters on the ground said they were told they were coming to kill protesters. The police have been protecting the outside agitators. Right now there are videos on social media of them basically getting a police escort into town. We have a president openly encouraging all this. From the beginning of his rallies he has encouraged violence toward others by his supporters. It's not going to end well and I can almost guarantee he will try to implement martial law or invoke the insurrection act. Trump is trying to avoid jail time so he will do whatever it takes to win reelection and I don't believe he cares if citizens are lost or our country burns in the process. IMO, it's a means to an end.
