They say it is the sin against the Holy Ghost, could someone explain this to me - Thank you.
The unforgivable sin is rejecting His Holy Spirit in other words, sin unto death, never to believe. Blessings

The Holy Spirit convicts and calls us out of sin John 16:8 (breaking God’s law 1 John 3:4 James 2:11-12) the sin that is unforgiven is when we stop listening to the Holy Spirit call us out of rebellion or unbelief to God.

Rebellion, unbelief disobedience and sin are all the same

Heb 3:7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,

In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”
12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but [b]exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Sin is breaking God’s law

1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
Any of the Ten Commandment– the Testimony of God Exo 31:18
James 2:11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

When we have harden our heart to God’s law, we are still living in flesh and become an enmity to God.

Rom 8: 7 Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Christ removed the enmity through His sacrifice, but many do not claim it because they do not hear His voice calling us out of our rebellion/sin to Him Heb 3:7-8 because sadly many llike their sins John 3:19-21 more than their love for Jesus John 14:15

This I believe is the unforgivable sin, the sin we do not give to Jesus Christ and forsake Pro 28:13 through His power John 14:15-18- He came to save us from our sins Mat 1:21 we are not saved in our sins Heb 10:26-30. There is no sin too great for Him, but many don’t want to let them go

When we do not allow God to define His own Law and what sin is we in essence make ourselves our own god Rom 6:16 and the Holy Spirit has no where to go when we harden our hearts to His call.

Heb 3:7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,

To deny and reject the Holy Spirit is to reject the only remedy for sin, for saving faith is of the Holy Spirit, whom your denial refuses to receive.

And this is not a one-time thing, just in case you ( @Apple Sky ) are wondering. Those who go to hell unredeemed spent their whole life at enmity with God, rejecting God at their very core, even when they were concerned about their eternal well-being.

But, the fact that someone is concerned about the question may even indicate that they are already born again, before they even understood it. And if you are born again, it is because GOD has chosen YOU, and not the other way around. And God will never fail to accomplish precisely what he set out to do.

The sin you are asking about only occurs in Matthew 12 and was never an individual sin a person could commit then or can commit now.

This was a national sin that the nation of Israel committed. The sin (blasphemy of The Spirit) was saying Jesus did His miracles not by the power of The Holy Spirit but by the power of the ruler of the demons, Beelzebub.

It was The nation of Israel rejecting Jesus as The promised Messiah.

So Israel committed this sin and was judged by God and their sentence was carried out in 70 A.D.

It can be seen in Acts 2 believers (Jews) who were part of this generation who committed this sin. Could escape God's coming judgment in 70 A.D.

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”

That sin is the blaspheming of The Holy Spirit that Jesus talked about in Matthew 12:31-32, Mark 3:28-29, Luke 12:10. It has to do with attributing the work of The Holy Spirit to an evil spirit(s).

It doesn't have anything to do with being an unbeliever, it's a purposeful blaspheming of The Holy Spirit as somehow being evil, like the pharisees did in those sections of scripture.

Its taking the mark of the beast during Daniel's 70th week.

It could have appeared during Acts 1-7 (this world), but now been postponed to Great Tribulation at a future unknown date (or the next).

It means to ignore the still small voice that tells us what is good, that leads us to Jesus, that convinces us not to commit sins, that comforts us. Blaspheming the Holy Ghost means to reject God's constant attempts at being your friend, your guide, your Father, and your helper. It means to reject God's helping hand and refuse to hear anything He says and in turn reject Christ who the Holy Spirit leads to.

Simply, it is rejecting God's Spirit and leading and choosing to go one's own way instead.

The Bible says there is a sin against the Holy Spirit, and Mark 3:28-30 tells us what it is.
Jesus had been driving out demons and the Pharisees said that he was only able to do that in the power of Beelzebub - Satan. Jesus said that was impossible because Satan cannot drive out Satan; he cannot use his own power to drive himself out. It would mean he was divided.
Jesus had obviously been driving out demons in God's power, through the Holy Spirit. These Pharisees had attributed a divine miracle to the devil; given glory (credit) to the devil instead of to God.

Ignoring, or rejecting, the Spirit due to ignorance is one thing; deliberately saying that some miracle from God comes from the devil, is quite different.
I have heard, a few times, that if a Christian is worried they have committed the unforgiveable sin, they haven't. If they are anxious that they might not be able to repent and find God, that is a sign that God is still at work in them.
