Some say it's God weeding out all those who are not truely Advestist.

I'll admit right now. I'm not truly an Advestist.

(HAHA...I had to. Typos can be a hoot and I've done that exact same one about 40 brazillian times myself before I edited. It sounds like a deadly chemical or something).

It goes to show you that we all have different likes and dislikes. Somethime we tend to become a little judgemental to things that other people like.

I really don't think it's judgmental to recognize some things as unbecoming of the Christian walk though.

We deny ourselves when we accept Christ. That obviously doesn't mean to stop eating or drinking and slowly die, but we do have to stop being selfish and self-involved all the time. It's not about us.

Firstly.....
Scriptural evidence for this so called shaking please..I've heard the theory but where's the evidence from the only place we can trust fully.....

As for the list of do's and don'ts, here's what the Bible says:

Thou shall not visit a movie theater.
Unless immoral in the content in the film threatres is not frowned upon by the Bible
Thou shall not wear jewelry.
1 Tim 2:9, Gen 35:2-4. It's obedience to God by obeying the Bible. Jewellery only attracts those interested in riches, not the right people.
Thou shall not drink fermented wine.
1 Cor 10:31,Proverbs 20:1
We need no more evidence. alcohol affects judgement, the spiritual part of the mind.
Thou shall not listen to jazz music.
There is no Biblical support against this, unless it teaches immoral things against the Bible. You can't judge a whole type of music. You have to judge song by song. Example POP, most is sexual and wrong, yet Hillsong (A chrisitan church that releases many albums http://www2.hillsong.com/default.asp) uses pop style.
Thou shall not eat white sugar.
The Bible isn't against that. No where, that's more of an Ellen White Teaching. Though it's proven Ellen White was a better health writer than that of her time, she still erred. For example she says, not much cheesem don't use salt and pepper. Not one of us, upholds her teachings like this taught in the Ministry of healing. The Book Aquired or Inspired, shows that about 80% of EGW's health principles are proven corrrect, the other 20% unsure or incorrect. So suagr is fine.
Thou shall not drink coffee, smoke
Caffiene is a drug, just like speed, and drinking coffe affects your brain cells. The Bible says you are a temple of the Holy Spirit. To keep that temple holy and not profane it you don't do drugs, so you have full mind capability to serve God. Also the Bible states Christ lives in you, do you want to put drugs into Christ?

Ummm. Jazz?

Is it something specifically about Jazz? or is it any music that is not 'Christian' music? That is a serious question.

Before reading Dathen's post I was going to ask about how many of these things are forbidden according to the Bible and ask for scripture. I guess I still want to ask that.

I'm just asking questions - not debating here. yet :D

The point of why Just jazz is interesting, I think the Fundamentals mention Jazz and debased music....Sure, usually jazz is about depressing things..

But rap, is about murder and rape and heaps of horrible things yet, there are christian bands that rap, Christian jazz bands, christian rock bands. I said it before and I'll say it again, you can't accuse one whole genre of music, you have to go song by song..

In the parable of the wheat and tares...when harvest time comes, that's when the wheat turns golden and tares turn black. Then the angels shall come and gether up the tares and burn them up.

About sugar, the white sugar is refined. It has ZERO value for the body. Science has proven sugar lowers immune system. I have seen in microscope white cells are literally 'drunk' when this is too much sugar intake.

Now I still take sugar, but very seldomly. No where near when I used to drink coffee and soda... I don't drink soda and coffee anymore. And goes with them the 3pm lows.

I was thinking salt, not sugar. Though both in large amounts in small amounts of time are harming.

One match box of salt at once, if you can manage to hold it down will kill you, though luckily most people throw it up. Why you would try beats me...

And sugar is harmful to diabetics, so both arn't the healthiest food, and I think should be used in minority and moderation.

Why just white sugar mentioned by OP?

If you want to talk about melancholy music, I have heard some country songs that will drive you to tears! There's the song about how the guy would be better off in a pine box on a slow train down to Georgia, than to lie here with thoughts of him lovin you on my mind or something like that.

On the other hand I have heard some good plain truth in a Jazz song,

There ain't no sense in fertilizing a tree that ain't bearing no fruit.....

Now that's plum Biblical there! ;)

There's good and bad in all kinds of things. You can find whatever you want. If you're looking for stuff to get in trouble with, you can find it anywhere. If you're looking for good uplifting stuff, you can find it anywhere, too. It all depends on the one whose doing the looking.

Also the parable of wheat and tares shouldn't have differing beliefs amongst people as following the parable is the explanation...

Matthew 13:24-30 PARABLE
Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

Matthew 13:36-43 EXPLANATION
Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Exactly that's where the line blurs easily. Satan is a master of deception. And we humans are easily led off course.

Rather than testing our ability to resist, why not just stay away from anything that looks suspicious?

And with that fact, we must test all and everything, for he sneaks error into everything..Even things that seem innocent such as chrisitan bands. Not saying all chrisitan bands, none that I know, but I'm sure there is some out there.
