TrustAndObey, one thing I am confused by... from the context in the first page you seemed to be in favor of imposing your views on jewelry/etc on others. But later you started saying that this was just what you think.

Which is it? It is the first that I have been arguing against.

If I was imposing my view, I would've started this thread.

I didn't.

I was asked what I think, and I answered.

So if I am not married but have sex with a married woman I am not commiting adultry?

It's adultery.

The same as it would be adultery if you were married to a woman other than the woman you're having relations with.

If either one of you is married, and not to each other, it's adultery.

You know this stuff little brother. It's bible 101.

Let me say one more thing and then I really have to go study.

Defending your faith is entirely different than trying to impose your views on others.

This is an Adventist subforum, and the majority of Adventists don't condone adornment.

Maco knew he wouldn't be able to post that thread without a little debate, considering where he posted it.

What he sees as new light (or anti-biblical) isn't necessarily what I see.

He sent me some literature via e-mail that looks like it came straight off a Keith Hunt site (anti-Adventist), and some of it was laughable.

Maco, why didn't you post that in this thread? I'm just curious.

I don't care if other people wear jewelry. That's the truth.

If they ask my opinion about it, they're gonna get it though.

Back to the preperation of meat thing, my dad to my dissapointment, works in a chicken weighbridge. And because my family is linked with animal cruelty organisations, we know that if a an animal has a disease, it's just cut out and the rest is made meat.

Sometimes the whole diseased animal is just made into salt, such as chicken salt....

YUCK, how can you people eat meat??? Vegetarianism is the way

Please read these verses and then tell me how you think they apply to the questions at hand of what is sinful:

Matt 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Luke 9:23 And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Matt 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go [and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come [and] follow me.

Luke 12:19-21 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, [and] be merry. But God said unto him, [Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So [is] he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Christ gave us a perfect example of how to live a Godly, righteous life. This includes fully humbling our will to the Father. "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure." Phil 2:13 He cannot do this unless we are an empty vessel. Can someone honestly say with a straight face that drinking alcohol is the will of the Father? or any of these other things in this discussion?

Or think of it like this...With the discussion back and forth it appears there is some good points on both sides. My question is this: Is there even a remote chance that drinking alcohol, or smoking, or wearing jewelry would be unacceptable to God? Even a small remote chance!

If so, why would anyone who understands even just a tad what this next verse speaks of want to chance dishonoring God?

Phil 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Christ asks us to deny ourself as He did as stated above-- Are we doing this when we indulge in alcohol or ANY harmful substance whether it be sugar, meat, Partially hydrongenated oil, etc. Are we denying are on wants when we wear jewelry? God may not care, but I believe there is enough evidence to suggest that He very well could care and are you willing to take that chance and dishonor God?

By the way on the wedding ring issue-- The wedding ring developed out of sun worship and is actually a symbol used even today of a circle with a dot in the middle. Symbolizing something that should not be discussed on this forum! So, that is why I took mine off. I don't want to have ANYTHING to do with the devil and his worship!

Let's take smoking, a nasty vile habit that has no benefit whats so ever, and is harmful in the slightest of quantities.

It isn't discussed as sinful. In a perfect world would anyone smoke? No. Is smoking stupid? Yes. (well, I do admit I have never smoked)

Do we live a more blessed if we don't smoke? Yes. Is it something that our brother must sacrifice before the Lord if He will be saved? No. Is it something that our brother must sacrifice after he accepted Christ into his life? When God asks him to do so.

Actually I did post it somewhere on one of these forums. As far as Keith Hunt goes, I don't know who he is.

Yes, its easier to comply to the Bible and healthier too, but some people always find a niche to allow for sin, what can you do...

If eating clean meats is a sin, then why did Jesus eat clean meats?
