Doubtful.Your call of course. As I said you are missing a good book and a good movie.
It isn't a rousing endorsement for the book and the movie that so many are touting them like a JW does with a Watchtower mag.Don't you dare tell me ice cream is good! Because someone told me it wasn't, and I am way too smart to listen to anyone else. LOL
You gotta love the logic of some people.
But, you actually have no idea, do you? See? You honestly don't. That's not a slam.... just fact. You can't know. And you probably never will, because you have already decided what you want to see even if you were to now read the book or see the movie. It isn't a rousing endorsement for the book and the movie that so many are touting them like a JW does with a Watchtower mag.
You'll never really know without reading the book or seeing the movie. If you don't want to enrich the author don't buy the book, borrow it from your public library. That's what I did with the first couple books in the Left Behind series.Doubtful.
I don't care to know by reading it. However, from what I've heard directly from those that have read it and this thread, I'm not missing anything except poor theology. So, I'll pass. I know some are all about the next new and shiny thing packaged as Christianity, but I think I'll stick with the tried and true faith. But, you actually have no idea, do you? See? You honestly don't. So silly. Who told you this fictional novel was ever written to say anything about "Theology?" It was written, at his wife's request, exclusively for his own children.... to let them know their father's thoughts and emotions.I don't care to know by reading it. Who here is suggesting that you not stick with "the tried and true faith?"I don't care to know by reading it. I'm sure it's positively biblical. Some will push this but will never read the deuterocanon. The Left Behind series is premillennial dispensationalism fiction- much like the belief itself. There's nothing truly Christian about that either. I quit reading that first book a chapter in. I had no desire to watch whatever movies they made about that either. You can keep it all. One is better off without any of it. Very odd that 'me and bible only' types are pushing that kind of thing. You'll never really know without reading the book or seeing the movie. When fiction expresses blasphemy I don't care to read it.So silly. Who told you this fictional novel was ever written to say anything about "Theology?" It was written, at his wife's request, exclusively for his own children.... to let them know their father's thoughts and emotions.
Why would I "keep" the Left Behind series when I already made it clear that I only made it through the first couple books in the series? But at least I gave the series a shot. And I'm not "pushing" anything. I think I've said several times that it us your call.I'm sure it's positively biblical. Some will push this but will never read the deuterocanon. Yet- you and another poster seem to have an awful lot to say to me about my call not to read it.Why would I "keep" the Left Behind series when I already made it clear that I only made it through the first couple books in the series? You have not heard me suggest you do. In fact, I emphatically implore you not to waste your time. Because, you have already relinquished the chance for it to be anything else but the waste of time you want it to be.When fiction expresses blasphemy I don't care to read it.
Actually I've said it is your call. Why do you seem to have a problem with people who are simply telling you that you are missing a good book?Yet- you and another poster seem to have an awful lot to say to me about my call not to read it.
Specifically what have you heard is heterodox about the Shack?Heterodoxy.
Actually, much is heterodoxical....... because one of the main definitions of heterodox is that it is something that diverges from the "officially accepted position" about how things are supposed to be.Specifically what have you heard is heterodox about the Shack?
I'm using the word not in a general sense....but by the actual church history standards (and I hope that Seashale was also). With that meaning of the word, it's much more concise.....you know?Actually, much is heterodoxical....... because one of the main definitions of heterodox is that it is something that diverges from the "officially accepted position" about how things are supposed to be.
I agree. That's actually something I love about the movieSo, yes, for those of us still anchored to the "flannel-board" depictions of our Sunday School days, for anyone to dare to suggest they understand the Trinity any other way comes close to inducing cardiac arrest, on the spot.
