Other people were not making the claim, and I'm not about to act counter to my own statements and offer insufficient information. I'm addressing the "conclusive evidence" no matter who is using such notions.

1 light year = 5,878,625,370,000 miles, so the distances in miles is 1.89879599E+15 and 2.55132341E+15 which is a difference of 652,527,415,490,000 miles.
Since the distance is calculated using parallax from opposite sides of the earth's orbit around the sun, this margin of error is a difference of 0.0000007178° which is an incredibly small range of error in measuring an angle and demonstrates incredibly high precision.

How did these explorers or anyone for that matter, get too Antarctica in the first place, was it by plane or ship ?
