Recent analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) confirms that Democrats conducted a years-long, massive cover-up to defraud American taxpayers in order to subsidize fraud, waste, and abuse in federal health programs, including using loopholes to provide free health care to illegal immigrants. Republicans put an end to these generous unjustified subsidies and instead lowered premiums for those properly enrolled in the program and provided a massive tax cut to the middle class in The One, Big, Beautiful Bill, signed into law on July 4th.​

Except - that's a MAGA Committee's reading of the CBO letter. The CBO letter does not use language like “massive fraud,” “cover-up,” or “democrats hid wrongdoing.” It is technical and presents estimates and caveats.

CBO’s latest analysis makes clear that The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is not taking coverage away from hardworking Americans but is ending billions in subsidies for illegal immigrants, cracking down on fraud, and restoring integrity to health care programs. CBO estimates that the policies in the new law dealing with health insurance marketplace premium tax credit eligibility would reduce those who should not be getting taxpayer subsidies by 2.1 million in 2034.​

Additionally, CBO confirms Republicans’ concerns with massive improper enrollment in Obamacare. The agency not only finds that Democrat policies have led to at least 2.3 million fraudulent enrollees in Obamacare, but also that common sense Republican program integrity reforms in The One, Big, Beautiful Bill will lower premiums for those truly eligible for the program while putting an end to these abuses.​

Lawrence Duran — the former co-owner of American Therapeutic Corp., a Miami-based company that ran seven healthcare clinics between South Florida and Orlando — pleaded guilty in May 2011 to multiple felonies, including defrauding Medicare, healthcare fraud and money laundering.


Duran and his girlfriend, Marianella Valera, the co-owner of the company and one of its therapists, filed 866,000 false claims with Medicare and received more than $87 million from their scheme, according to court records.

Duran is the second defendant in the case to be spared by Trump. In 2020 in his first term, Trump commuted the 35-year sentence of Judith Negron. A jury convicted her on 24 counts of conspiracy, fraud, paying kickbacks and money laundering in collaboration with Duran and Valera in August 2011.

That healthcare stuff that Schumer and his friends shut the government down over doesn't even change at all until the end of the year, and yet he shut the govt. down over it now.

Open enrollment starts November 1st. That's in 3 weeks. The sooner this is resolved the sooner I (and millions of others) will be able to determine if I can afford insurance or if I will have to opt out.

How are private companies even in charge of all this?
Live saving healthcare should be a human right - and guaranteed by government.
There should be enough government owned and operated hospitals to guarantee all Americans receive healthcare.

If people dont have healthcare they only go to the hospital as a last resort, so problems are only identified in late stages where care is more expensive or where it's too late to treat. Hospitals charge more to make up for people who don't have health care and can't pay or are slow to pay and because Medicare/Medicaid doesn’t reimburse at decent amounts. A couple of hospitals have already decided to close because they won't have enough money to cover operating expenses as a result of the "BBB" passed.

When hospitals charge more, health insurance companies charge more, so this affects everyone's cost.

I'm one of those people who would just stick it out and suffer or use home remedies when I didnt have insurance. Home remedies sre still my first go to. If it wasn't for Obamacare I probably wouldn't be here. My insurance is through my employer but they weren't offering it to employees who were classified as part time. Once the ACA passed I was able to sign up again.

I got insurance that Jan and finally felt so bad I went to the emergency room early Feb. I didn't have a primarily care physician. I had been having issues for months with a persistent cough and ankles swelling. I thought I would be given a diuretic and sent home. They kept me 3 days. I had HBP which led to congestive heart failure. The cough was due to fluid build up in my lungs and the swollen ankles from fluid retention also.
My kidneys were failing, but once they got my HBP down they recovered ok. If I hadn't got insurance I wouldn't have gone because I couldn't have afforded it. As it was, I ended up with a bill for several thousand dollars. I was able to get a payment plan via the hospital though.

I have to have insurance for doctors visits and to cover the cost of the prescriptions. If I can't afford to keep my healthcare I may have to get another doctor. He requires payments up front to receive care if you dont have an insurance copay.

I won't be nearly as bad off as thousands of other people, though. Too many people are treating this as a red vs blue issue, supporting their own team, instead of an American issue.

There was a comment I heard several months back that said as Christians we tend to value HEALING but we don't value HEALTH. That rang true, for me at least, so I've been taking better care of myself.

The GOP didn't announce a repeal of Obamacare this time. They are trying to give it a slower death by starving it. They thought the effects wouldn't be felt until after next years midterms but it's being felt now as hospitals do budgets months in advance, hence some of the closures. I hope common sense will prevail and the GOP with do the right thing for the sake of it being the right thing. Barring that, I hope they are willing to do it for the self benefit of keeping their job.

That is so rough! 20 years ago when my son had leukaemia we didn't have to pay a cent. It is stressful enough to be sick or have a little kid that's sick.

Back then I practically lived in hospital with my son for about 6 months. The carer burnout My wife and I suffered while running a business and me being full-time carer was rough enough. Adding all that financial trauma to satisfy some warped right wing paranoia about socialised medicine just makes me angry! My son's treatment was entirely free - all 6 months. We only paid for parking and snacks.

Also, a few months ago I had this incredible pain in my gut. It just built and built! I went into one hospital, ended up on painkillers while they took a scan, and then the next day was transferred to another hospital to have a kidney stent inserted for a kidney stone.

I went in late Thursday night and came out from another hospital Saturday afternoon, surgery and recovery time will included.

It was all 100% free.

And the best bit? Australians pay half what Americans pay.

Government-owned and operated hospitals are just that much cheaper.

Apparently rhe Democrats can't. I remember when Democrats were in power and couldn't get a deal done. Who was blamed? The Republicans. It was a Republican shut down. Now the Republicans cant get a deal done. Who gets the blame? Republicans.
In fact for weeks qe heard about how terrible the Republicans were for causing a shut down. The media and democrats trotted out everyone they could to say how they were going to suffer if Republicans shut the government down by not agreeing with Democrats.

Now? Not a peep out of the media or Democrats because they are rhe ones shutting it down.

If you are worried about health care - Schumer should stop voting to keep the government closed so congress can deal with the issue - just like they had planned to.

Here's the issue:

Chuck Schumer get a CR that is IDENTICAL to the one he publicly supported and voted for just 6 months ago
Chuck Schumer wants to negotiate ADDING 1.5 trillion dollars in spending to an already bloated budget.

And he finds his talking point - and people believe him.
