IN an other thread, I was told that God hears the "Saints"
'prayers' because they're more righteous, already being
in Heaven (if that's where they are).

Does God prefer them over us?
Is He a respecter of WHERE one of His kids
is standing, or/and just how righteous are we?

I didtn put this in the mariology folder because it's
about righteousness, but it can be moved there
depending on what people decide to fight about.
:D

Fight nice men, k?

Thanks,
sunlover

Well, I don't think its fair to say if God prefers the saints in heaven over us on earth. We're still running the race, they've finished it.

As for the second question, I really can't think now. Getting late. Need sleep!
okay

Of course not.

Not in the least.

 LOL I've promised myself I'm not going to debate here at GT anymore, so I'll just give my view on this ...and run for my life...LOL

I dont think it's about God loving the Saints more or being more willing to listen to their prayers. But the Bible does say: "the prayer of a righteous man avails much"! Why do you think that is? Well if we ask for something in prayer but have unconfessed sin, etc...God is still willing to listen to us but our prayers are not very strong. Remember we're on earth, and the devil is real and is the 'prince of this world'...and he would do anything to distract us from prayer. Well the Saints are in heaven away from the devil. No distraction, no sin, nothing separating them from God! And they are concerned about us poor people on earth LOL so they offer their prayers for us. :) And since they are with God, they know better what to pray for.

Of course if you don't want to ask the Saints for prayer, it's not like God won't hear you LOL. Of course He will. It's just that some people like to know that someone is praying for them, and that someone is in God's presence and away from all this evil and sin. "the prayer of a righteous man avails much". :) And don't we ask our friends on earth to pray for us?

Hi Monica.
Not to debate, but I think a righteous man is righteous because He is in Christ & the Holy Spirit is in him, but I don't thnk it means he is without sin because:
1Jo 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

 Yes, but those in heaven are without sin....surely, you're not saying that we would sin in heaven? :) The Saints are made righteous by Christ, but they are also sanctified and transformed into righteousness...it's not merely attributed to them, it's a part of them. That is the point of salvation....God takes unworthy sinners and makes them worthy, by His grace.

1 John 1:8 is just saying that everyone has something to repent of...it's a reply to those people who say that there's "nothing wrong with them".

Apostle Paul wrote a lot about avoiding sin and living a holy life...that we should flee from any immorality, conceit, etc.

When we pray for evil things God does not give them to us unless it is to teach us how much we need Him and to stay away from evil.
would you say that God is more pleased by prayers for good things then prayers for bad things?
well the Saints in heaven are no longer affected by sin so they will not ask for anything that is bad.

Dead saints can't pray, because they're dead.

That means they are not in heaven... they are in the grave, waiting for the second coming of Christ, who will give them the gift of eternal life at the resurrection.
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" 2 Corinthians 5:8

God transcends time. They are already there. :)

I don't personally pray to saints, but that's beside the point.

James tells us that the prays of the righteous are more efficacious, so SOMEONE is more righteous -- who would be more righteous than a St. Paul or Mary, or someone like that?
I dont know.
Is our righteousness of ourselves?
I thought it was Christs righteousness
we see in us.
