or rather this week... 835 pages.. lol
Yes, her books are long. Steps to Christ is probably the shortest book. Read it for yourself and decide for yourself, DA is a beautiful book on the life of Christ.

Now I beg you, brothers and sisters, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing {I assume he means on critical issues here}, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment 1 Corinthians 1

We can all agree to use the Bible, that's fine :heart: keeping in mind that an interpretation of the Bible is not the Bible itself

In general, I'd say the works of the majority of the Christian world is consistent with the Bible :heart: Of course, wherever humans are involved, there's going to be issues :D

The Lord looked down from heaven on the children of men,
to see if there were any who understood,
who sought after God
They have all gone aside.
They have together become corrupt.
There is no one who does good, no, not one Psalm 14

who made Paul an apostle?
Generally Paul gives this answer in the opening to all his letters. Galations is his earliest letter and he states in v1-2

"Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— and all the brothers and sisters with me,"

Then reiterates his credibility in v11-12

"I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ."

From history you seem to have some tension with Paul's apostleship. This isn't the place to challenge Paul's credibility, the statement of purpose for this forum says that's that all NT writers should be regarded equally credible with Christ.

Some tensions? the original disciples of Jesus had certainly some tensions with Paul, this is evident from Acts.

can you answer this;

according to the book of revelations ;
Rev 21:14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations bearing the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
Who's names will be on the twelve foundations?

But yes it is not the place to challenge all paul said and did. so I will leave it at that. People can see for themselves.

Matthias will be the name of the 12th who preached to the Jews for ~five years before Paul was converted and preached to the Gentiles.

Claire do not forget the twelve also preached to the gentiles as Paul did, Christ sent them to do so, but I think you know that too.

Blessings and have a good evening.

Imagine the honour of having one's name on the walls foundations of God's city

Indeed Paul is not counted amoung the 12. He regarded himself the least of the apostles saying "For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God" (1 Cor 15:9)

Circumstantially Paul wrote a lot of epistles in the NT. Peter accepted these as scripture (2 Pet 3:16) and we should infer that the entire 12 backed Paul as well. Peter and Paul didn't always see eye to eye. For example Paul opposed him to his face (Gal 2:11-14). Galations was Paul's earliest letter and he felt the need to write about this conflict in the letter. Certainly 2 Pet 3:16 included Galations despite the tension or humbling position Peter would have to take in affirming Paul.

I would love it if the other apostles also wrote in great lengths so that our bible is doubled in size but that's just not how it ended up. I need to accept that God's hand is in it all and Paul was the right person to pen these words and theological positions.

Paul is not the issue, according to Scripture its how we interpret Paul writings that is.

2 Pet 3: 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

Paul was a servant of Christ Acts 1:1 and the issue is when we take Paul out of context to teach against the fundamental teachings of Jesus taught and Jesus lived as our example, that is the issue. So we need to very careful with his writings so they don't contradict himself and Jesus. Having a good understanding of God's Ten Commandments, written by our perfect Savior and all the other laws written by Moses placed outside the Ten Commandments is paramount for understanding Paul.

Paul never taught lawlessness, he never once taught we didn't have to keep the Ten Commandments, just as Jesus never taught so. Paul was not leading people to destruction Mat 7:21-23 and teaching people to sin Rom 7:7, dishonor God Rom 2:21-23 and be an enmity to God Rom 8:7-8 and be left outside of heaven Rev 22:14 he taught the opposite, but when we pluck out a verse without its context, we can make the Bible say anything, but its not leading us in God's Truth. We must reconcile the writings of the servant to the Master.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Jesus and Paul taught under different covenants. This wasn't true until the last supper :handpointdown:

I will put my laws into their mind;
I will also write them on their heart.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
They will not teach every man his fellow citizen
and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
for all will know me,
from their least to their greatest

But it was true during Paul's apostleship

Jesus is our example in all ways 1 John 2:6 Heb 4:15 1 Peter 2:21-23, they didn't teach different covenants, Paul said he imitated Christ 1 Cor 11:1 as are we to, this is a sad teaching leading people away from God's Truth. Anyone teaching Jesus lived in "Old Covenant" and not to be listened to or followed is not a teaching of Scripture. Isa 8:20 Jesus died to save our sins, He ratified His covenant at His death, but lived to show us the righteous way to do so. To take out the life of Christ as old is such a sad teaching, not coming from God.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The whole Bible is about the testimony of Jesus Christ, but when it comes to His own personal Testimony either through life or Words, sadly people don't believe.2 Timothy 4:3-4

Jesus and Paul taught *under* different covenants

If we don't celebrate Hanukkah, we're probably not following Jesus in all ways :heart:

...how I used to go with the crowd, and led them to God’s house,
with the voice of joy and praise, the throng wild with joy Psalm 42

Its just a misunderstanding of Scripture. But its probably better to keep more than less, if one doesn't understand.

The last thing we want to hear at His Second Coming is this:

Mat 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ (believers) shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

The test of knowing Him

1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God [a]is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

God puts his Torah, his Way, in our minds. A person can't misunderstand what is put directly in their mind by God :heart:

The Lord will command his loving kindness in the daytime
In the night his song shall be with me Psalm 42

Where do we find that in the NT?
Acts 15:7
And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: “Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.

For the rest of Jesus's disciples they were asked By Jesus before his ascension to go preach to the ends of the world;

The Great Commission

Mat 28:16 Meanwhile, the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain Jesus had designated.

Mat 28:17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some doubted.

Mat 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

Mat 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

Mat 28:20 and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Mrk 16:14 Later, as they were eating, Jesus appeared to the Eleven and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

Mrk 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mrk 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Mrk 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;

Mrk 16:18 they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”

Mrk 16:19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

Mrk 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked through them, confirming His word by the signs that accompanied it.

Blessings

Thanks, I hadn't realized they preached to the Gentiles.
