My dad has a '56 Chevy that we take to car shows and stuff. 100% original, including the radio. With all the chrome those cars had and the style they had it just looks stupid to go cutting the dash to put in a CD player. So we got an mp3 player and hid under the seat and I've been collecting oldies to put on it. I think I've got 12 CDs worth of music on that little ole disk, everything from Elvis to the Beach Boys, Johnny Cash to Patsy Cline. Even some Wolfman Jack sound bites. 300 songs, 500 megabites worth of raw data, and when I went to make sure everything was normalized and sounded okay, the receiver shorted out and hasn't worked since. :(

But man, some of that music back then was great. To me, Jan & Dean is one of the most underrated groups of the era. You hardly hear anything about them now and their music is still so recognizable. Same with Bobby Derrin. The Crystals. So many great artists back then. A lot of cool stuff.

If I can ever get my girlfriend's digital camera pried away from her for an afternoon, I plan on snapping some pictures of his car and the other car we're working on. It's a numbers matching car, a Bel Air sport coupe, but the closet pic I could find on Google was a convertable. I did find a green hardtop that looks a lot like his, except his is blue and has fender skirts. His also has the accessory bird fender ornaments but I couldn't find any pics of those online.

We're restoring a '57 together right now (though for the last couple of months he's done more work on it than I have) and, right now, the plan is to have it look like the one pictured, except with fender skirts. I'm trying to talk him into dual rear antennas though. He hates them but I think they add a lot to the '57.

Thanks for the compliment. :)

On the FAQ at ImageShack, it says lost photos are not retreivable. But, if you register (I just gave them a throw-away email addy), they keep track of all your photos. Registration is easy, too. All they ask for is your email. I expect that addy to get slammed with SPAM very soon. :D
