The time of serving Babylon
did not start until captives, such as
Daniel were taken, and the king became
its servant.
The 70 years did NOT begin with the first removal of Israelites.
The 70 years began with Babylon's reign over the nations... after Babylon defeated Assyria.
God decreed the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple AFTER King Josiah's death.
Ironically, King Josiah died in battle against the king of Egypt whose army was crossing
Judah to fight along side Assyria against Babylon [609BC.] Babylon had already conquered
Assyria's capital city, Nineveh. Assyria made another stand at Harran which began in 610BC
and ended in 609BC. Assyrian empire ended in 609BC after Babylon conquered Harran.
King Josiah's son was a vassal king under the king of Egypt... then under the king of Babylon.
The first exile of Israelites happened many years after that.
The 70 years began when Babylon's power over the nations began... when Babylon defeated Assyria.
609BC when Babylon conquered Assyria to 539BC when Cyrus conquered Babylon = 70 years.
