Anyone have any thoughts on John stating Jesus said,

"Rev 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

It doesn't seem that Jesus return has been quick at all.

If you go by God's time, it's only been a little over two days.

Also, "quickly" here doesn't necessarily mean "I'll be there in a couple of days", but that we won't have advanced warning of the specific time He will come again. He will all of a sudden be here. And that, of course, is very quickly.

we havent yet gotten far enough into the end times for Jesus' return. but when we do, we will surely know when he arrives. things will get far worse as time progresses and when it gets to the worst point, thats when Jesus will come back, and his return will be swift. you can count on it.

it is stated some where, in the bible that 1000 years is like a day to god. it has been 6000 years (give or take)since god placed adam and eve on this earth.......so thats about 6 days to god.......

god lives outside of time. as humans we think of time as a linear( with the age old question of before) with god there is no before. he just has alwasy been. he created time itself..

this has been the one of the hardest things to comprehend as a christian for me. the essence of no before period

Christ is already here. I see him every Sunday (and occasionally during the week) at Mass.

The Mass is Heaven on earth; we participate in the wedding feast described in Revelations. It's quite a good time, actually.
I don't want to de-rail the thread, but I find it intoxicating that we have the opportunity to stand at the foot of the cross everyday of the week, if we choose.

...I'm done... I was never here. lol

Yes, He is with us whenever 2 or more are gathered together in His name....and we have the Spirit indwelling us as well.

However, the Second Coming will be spectacular, I think.

I was just about to say the same thing.

"Quickly" describes HOW Jesus is coming, not WHEN He is coming.

i dont believe that God is confined by time so therefore if he is outside of time it may indeed happen quickly to him.
If it wasn't supposed to mean anything to us, why say it at all?

"I'll be there shortly."
"How shortly?"
"Oh, maybe 2, 3 thousand years. Won't be long atall."

but i do think that it will be soon
Just a couple more thousand years?

Just some food for thought:

"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof." -Rev. 21:23

In heaven there is no yesterday. In heaven there is no tomorrow. There is no night to mark the passing of days. In that sense, Jesus just arrived in heaven today! Granted it was eariler today, but it was today none the less. And when we die and go on to meet our Savior, we will arrive in heaven today. Just a little later in the day than Him, but we'll get there today. Think about it. God Bless.

It didn't? Because when I see someone all of a sudden standing beside me, I tend to think they got there pretty quickly. I had no time to prepare for their coming to me. I had no advanced warning that they'd be there right then. To me, that's quick.

And besides, 3 thousand... heck, even 3 million years, weighed against all of a never-endeing eternity, is quickly, in the grand scheme of things. Don't be too quick to think Jesus is bound to our time sensibilities. He's not.
