Thank you to everyone who replied. it is a fascinating and vast topic.

I will ask that everyone refrain from debate (However, I think it would be a great topic in the Debate sub-forums).

I am sure there are still some issues and feelings between Catholics and Protestants. Please remember; however, that what happened in the 16th century cannot be undone. I have no doubt that both "sides" committed grievous acts against the other. However; no one on these forums committed any such act.
What you cannot see is that what happened in the 16th century is being undone in Heaven every moment. There is only one Church in heaven. But it's not just the 16th century. There have been break-offs from Christ's Church since He instituted it.
I do hope everyone, Catholic and Protestant, remembers their faith in Christ and can see one another as Christian.

Thank you again for everyone's response.
I don't judge people by their denomination. There are good and bad and indifferent Catholics, and there are good, bad, and indifferent Protestants. It is not for us to judge.

IMO, there is no substitute for Roland Bainton's classic book, Here I Stand. It is the definitive work on Luther and, therefore, on the start of the Reformation.

It's good but dated. It was also never intended as a work of scholarship. It was originally written as a textbook for the PCUSA high school Sunday School curriculum.

Well, let's see. You opposed the Luther movie. You don't want a fine book by an acknowledged authority on Luther to be read. Maybe we can keep our inquirer from finding out anything about the Reformation if we really work at it--and this on the "EXPLORING Christianity" thread. :sigh:
