Well I guess it's a choice. Business owners can choose to make decisions that could well jeopardize their income potential and if they do that fine. If they find in time their profitability just isn't being realized and decide to close shop well they're the ones who crossed the line to become political. They certainly don't deserve to whine about their financial downfall in the future. Sad though. What will all this lead to. Restaurants that serve one group of people and others which serve another? Maybe in 100 years someone will arrive at an enlightened thought, that, "Hey! We're just going to make everyone feel welcome and serve all equally!" Yes call it a Brave New World!

Well first off, shutting down a small business seems to go against what I thought MAGA was all about. Then there's the whole defending the rights of a baker but screaming foul when the shoes on the other foot.

Keep in mind this is not an isolated incident. It has happened to others on team Trump. We have seen the reports where the pack of lib dogs shouting at the female simply sitting at the restaurant. Do you expect conservatives to do nothing? Just take it? Happy to disappoint you. It is your side which condemned the blacks for the sit-ins at white-only eat places in the south.

I would feel worse for them if they hadn’t been so exceptional as to bring the original situation to the public's attention to begin with. The owner's tweet bragging about kicking Sanders out went viral, and people began asking her about it.

I've been following this situation and so far have not been able to confirm a couple of things. Your mentioning of the Red Hen owner 'bragging' about kicking Sanders out went viral. Is there some confirmation of such a tweet? Mr. Huckabee's, as yet still uncorroborated, report that the party was then followed to some other restaurant across the street has also not yet been verified. Does anyone have a name for the restaurant? Other than the members of the Huckabee family, is there any evidence that such a thing happened?

Here's Mr. Huckabee's description of the event: 'The owner of the Red Hen - nobody's told this - then followed them across the street, called people and organized a protest, yelling and screaming at them from outside the other restaurant and creating this scene.'

I can't seem to confirm any of that. There doesn't seem to be any restaurant 'across the street'. Now, some 6 days after the situation, there has not been a single mention of the name of the other restaurant nor a single confirmation of the whole description from anyone outside of the Huckabee family. Some restaurant has been mentioned in some third party accounts of people who weren't even there, but others have responded that the restaurant mentioned is some 5 miles away. That could hardly be considered 'across the street' and would likely mean that they had driven there in their car. Ms. Sanders had apparently gone home so why anyone at the new restaurant would even know that the family eating at the second restaurant was a part of the Sanders' family is questionable. Why anyone would even want to harass the extended family is also questionable.

Every single google story about the 'following Sanders' report has nothing more than Mr. Huckabee as the only source of the information. Even Ms. Sanders has not confirmed the incident. Not a single person who might have been involved in this 'organized protest'. It seems, so far, to only be people who are willing to accept Mr. Huckabee's account of things without question.

So, do you have a link to the tweet/s that you're referencing as 'bragging about kicking Sanders out'?

Blacks were not welcome in white only restaurants and Sanders was not welcome at the Red Hen. The two have some valid parallels. The same mentality applies to both situations. Only the targets are different. Again, it is not an isolated incident. Dems Senators encouraging this kind of harassment against Repubs.

We see it on the News. Small mobs harassing Repubs out in public. This sort of thing will be probably be met with resistance in the future. If it continues it will only get worse.

I have done my homework, have you? It amazes me it does not occur to folks here to do research. Esp when they have a search bar right at their fingerprints. So tell you what and it is the same thing they tell student at the grade school. Do your homework.

My conservative stance: You should be able to deny service to anyone you choose.

The only REAL legal difference is that being gay is a protected class under federal law; while being a republican or a conservative or a Trump supporter is not.

Well. Most of us don't. So when we see people do that, we actually do the better thing: we protest. Democratically. Now the restaurant has the backlash, which is regrettable, but which the owner really should have seen coming.
