Here's a testament to how powerful and popular Starcraft still is: literally thousands of people still play it. In Korea there are still many tournaments held for Starcraft. I don't know about T (have nothing against it) but I think Starcraft still has good graphics. I still enjoy playing the game with my dad and friends.

There's nothing new there that TA hasn't got: thousands of players, worldwide tourneys, graphics much better than SC :p :D TA is in my opinion more balanced and a better game, although no doubt SC fans would probably say the same about SC, and I don't have a prob with that.

Yeah, TA is also the "Greatest Game of All Time", there seem to be a lot of 'em about

I just searched Google for "top video games of all time," and here are the first ones that came up that included all platforms, not just PC or console:

IGN's top 100, which I already linked - SC #7, TA unranked

"The DORK Club's" top 25 - SC #18, TA unranked

GameSpy's top 50(this one's got TA!!!) - SC #9, TA #50

The Sydney Morning Herald's top 50 - SC #8, TA unranked

Gamespot doesn't have a ranked list, but they've got 13 so far, and Starcraft is among them... I'm sure TA is next week, though

PC Gameplay polled famous game creators and developers to get their 50 most influential - SC #28, TA unranked

Do you want me to keep going? I mean, what do these guys know... they only play video games endlessly and write about them! They don't realize how awesome Total Annihilation really is...

TA has everything Starcraft has? Well, on one list it comes close.

The main thing with Starcraft is it takes skill to play :D

Just because a zealot can beat a marine does not mean the game is inbalanced. You counter the zealot with firebats, and firebats with dragoons. The game is constantly evolving and you have to have a new strategem each time you play.

How on earth do you counter zealots with firebats? Firebats have 50 health and around 16 attack. Zealots have 160 health (including shield) and 16 attack.

And of course, I support TA. I mean, have you seen the battle scenes in TA? Spectacular is the only word to describe them. If you look at a battle scene in SC, all you see are a bunch of dots spraying from the groun when the marines fire and lasers zapping continuously in one tseeeeew! after another. At least TA's lasers actually sound like lasers

Umm.....Simon? Firebats have an area of effect attack. Therefore, if you have about ten firebats and ten zealots, the firebats will do more damage overall, because they'll hit more enemies.

Blah. I agree that SC is quite good, but TA is also good. But since I lost SC and didn't bother buying a new copy, so I'm stuck with TA.

Uh huh....

And for everyone who thinks SC requires more tactics and strategy than TA, think again. There is much more strategy involved in TA. For one, on most maps on SC have ONE choke point which is also the only entrance to your base. Just pile up defences there with the occasional siege unit and attack with air. Practically every battle that lasts for more than 1/2 hour is decided in the air due to the overwhelming power of Battlecruisers and Carriers. Slap 12 Battlecruisers together with a few Valkyrie and 2 science vessels and bing badda boom, you're victorious. There is no overwhelming powerful unit in TA except for the Krogoth and that takes ages to build and you can kill it with a few Big Berthas/Intimidators anyway. In TA, you rarely have lots of choke points and if you do you can take it out with long range plasma cannons anyway. And then there's the terrain. You can hide behind wreckages, hills, etc. You can almost never do this in SC. Then there's the hit-and-run tactics, which is near impossible in SC because only Siege Tanks can shoot while driving and they're slow anyway. Should I continue?

Yeah yeah wateva. My point being is that TA supports a much wider range of tactics and strategy than SC
Not really, me and my friend were playing a TA game, and we finally stalemated after 1 1/2 hours. Vulcans owned any ship attacks, and flakkers owned any air attacks (Island maps) the problem is, defenses are just too good.
