You just can't defend the Word of God by bashing folks with a big stick. It doesn't woo one to the Lord. His truth will endure no matter how someone chooses to interpret and believe it.

This statement automatically assumes the the Traditional position is right and everyone else is wrong. It also automatically assumes that the Traditional position has interpreted Scripture correctly and every other type of Adventist understanding has interpreted Scripture wrongly.

If that is what you got from my statement then somehow I didn't word it correctly. I was pointing to a style, mean-spiritedness, that doesn't win souls or convince anyone to see things the basher's way. It divides.

I do not consider myself a Traditional SDA and my passion is to point away from the legalism that has crippled our denomination for decades.

I think in the parable of the prodigal son, you might identify with the elder brother as our denomination has in generations gone by. It's time to shift to how the Father wants us to practice our religion.

Luke 10:25-28 says:

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

26 "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"
27 He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" 28 "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

Our job, as His representative, is to learn to know Him intimately and love Him totally, and to love His children unconditionallly as He loves us, reflecting that love in our very lives.

You know that even Judas was given a chance to change his heart and mind and stop his betrayal of Jesus, there is no one that has gone too far that God cannot reach. But if we do not allow ourselves to be used by God as a instrument to show His love and purpose to others, but allow evil to take hold and follow 'mans wisdom' of how to force Gods hand, then how are we any different than Judas.

We must let God lead us and keep self from thinking we can do better than God and take the reins away so we can lead..
