Zalika faced Aneirin, ruby eyes flashing with anger. "And I can't do the same to you?! I'm more powerful than you or your pathetic 'High Preistess' could ever dream of being!"

Aneirin did not flinch. She had dealt with unrrational people before; this would be no different. "Fine." she said simply. "Do not tell me what you are doing." She pointed to the smoldering wyrms. "We have more where those came from. Not to mention large battalions of cavalry and footsoldiers." She tilted her head, her eyes teasing the girl to anger.

 

[Lessien]

(('Cuz, like most of my plot twists, I was afraid it might mess up the storyline or something.))

Zalika drew in her breath slowly to calm herself. "I apologize," she said slowly and quietly, trying to make the words sound sincere. "We've come a long way, trying to escape a werewolf who seems to be following us. We thought we might be safe in Citadel." For the sake of the others, Zalika tried to put aside her anger and resentment she felt toward the followers of Chama-toward this girl-for a moment.

Aneirin's eyes sparkled, her anger instantly forgotten. "If there is a werewolf, I can put twenty young and very eager fire apprentices on him right away. He won't last the night." She smiled. "I will welcome you in the Citadel, but I fear there are some who may not." The sparkle left her eyes and she looked down again.

"All right," Zalika said. Her anger was momentarily forgotten at Aneirin's offer. She returned the smile, hoping her tiny fangs wouldn't frighten the girl as they had with almost everyone else she'd met in the past few days.

Looking up again, Aneirin noted that the girl possessed a pair of tiny fangs. She barely noticed them, however. The Temple of Chama held so many different species of apprentices that she had ceased to notice any abnormalities. "What is your name?" she asked, curious.

 

[Lessien]

"Zalika." She was relieved that the whole 'what-are-you-doing-here, I'll-tell-you-over-my-dead-body' fiasco was over.

 

[Ellesar]

Kayden watched and listened everything silently, still not sure what was going on, or what had happened.

Aneirin considered the name. She had not heard of it before. "That is of uncertain origin." she commented before eyeing the rest of the groggy group. "How did you meet them? It is not normal for a band with such...different people join together."

 

[Lessien]

"It's a long story," Zalika replied. "I could tell you.....that is, if you wouldn't die of boredom before the end." The story was anything but boring.

 

[Paladin Dave]

Vili gave up on chasing the strange man who saved them and returned to the group. "Ah, Zalika, I see you have made a friend!" he said cheerfully in his Ordkish(kinda like a hybrid of a Swedish and Russian) accent. "I am Vili, at your service, lady...?"

 

[Lessien]

"Friend?" It was all Zalika could do to keep from howling in derisive laughter. "Acquaintance, perhaps..."

Kuillia watched the conversation and was won over by the apprehension the girl had tried so hard to hide. A berserker would never be that nervous, he thought. He walked forward calmly. "I'm Kuillia, and I'd shake your hand if I had one for you to shake. My apologies for the earlier suspicion. But safety comes first, as you know, at such times in history."

Aneirin was a bit overwhelmed. She smiled graciously at Vili first. "Aneirin." She laughed lightly. "I have not heard someone with your accent for many moons." She fell silent for a moment, remembering. The Ordkish accent had awoken something inside her, and she didn't know what it was. Shaking her head, she turned to the roc. "It is very unusual indeed for one such as you to be traveling with a group such as this. No wonder the Pristess sent me to investigate. But it is nice to meet all of you. Very seldom is it that I walk outside the walls of the Temple."

 

[Lessien]

"Wow. Poor you," Zalika said. "You're missing a lot..." She didn't care if she offended Aneirin. The girl was just glad she wasn't confined to some temple.

 

[Soldier_For_Christ]

Tenkana had stayed out of the two girl's conversation, knowing from experience that if he tried to intervene, he would get two hostile and frightening "Shut Up!"s. He then stepped forward. "My name is Tenkana. I'm sorta the leader of this band. I'm hoping that Citadel will accept us at least for the night." He wasn't sure how long he should stay, but he knew he still had to return to his tribe to report these events.

Aneirin dipped her head toward Tenkana. "I know that the Citadel will allow you to stay the night, at least." She looked at him closer and narrowed her eyes. "Why do you need the Citadel anyway? The weather is fine; camping under the stars should not be a problem."

 

[Lessien]

"Oh, yeah, a night under the stars would be perfect, especially if it ends with everyone getting eaten by a werewolf," Zalika said sarcastically.
