  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What kind of meds?

I'm still on perc from time to time (back surgery)

Talk to me, I understand incessant pain.

I take Vicodin Everyday for my pain. I also take Trazodone for sleep at night, in the morning Zoloft.. Quite a cocktail hmmmmmm.

I have a bad back and neck hernited, plus my rib cage I was born with "Pectus Excavatum"....

My chest hurt today for those wondering what my birth defect looked like here is a picture of a boy whom has Pectus Excavatum. Mine was 10 time worse than his, my center Sternum bone was fused to my back bone.

I’m one card short of a full deck
I’m not quite the shilling
One wave short of a shipwreck
I’m not my usual top billing
I’m coming down with a fever
I’m really out to sea
This kettle is boiling over
I think I’m a banana tree
Oh dear

I'm going slightly mad.

I know your pain. With the exception of the chest (I have other problems there) I have 3 ruptured cervical discs and one in my thoracic spine, that I know of. I live on Mortrin (2400mg 3 times a day) because I'm too busy to take the Lortab (Which is the same exact thing as Vicodan). This dulls the already, alwaysthere, will-never-go-away-until-I-get-my-glorified-body pain.
I have Soma, Flexeril and Skelaxin as well, but I just don't have that kinda' time to be that dopey. I take all of this Mortin knowing that I have a history of a perforated bowel, that I could perforate again and wake up from surgery with anothe colostomy. My blood pressure is up and I have chest pain here and there all because I take mega does of Motrin.
I trade potential for stroke and heart failure, and bowel perforation, GI Bleeding so I can work full time and, more importantly, homeschool my girls. And God has given this to me so that He may be glorified. So far He's kept me safe from harm and funtional.

2 Corinthians 12:5-105 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. 6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. 7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Oh Kristi, I'm sorry you have to endure that kind of pain. I know mine is nothing compared to yours. In fact, I had no idea how much pain I was in until I had the surgery and found some relief so I couldn't possibly imagine what you must be feeling.

Wow, Mesue. I think I knew about your back, but not everything else.

Well, since we're giving medical histories: I had my surgery at a university hospital so they let students to the prep work (with guidance of course). Well, they messed up on the intubation and the foley catheter...pretty bad. My voice is just beginning to recover but I'm still having urinary tract problems. I've been seeing a urologist and last week he informed me that since my situation is undiagnosed and the symptoms are getting worse he suspects prostate cancer.

I haven't told my wife.

Actually, this post is the first time I've mentioned it to anyone.

I don't like to think about it.

Wow, Mϋzikdϋde, has your MD done tests? There are blood tests that can be done, and the physical exam that hubby *sarcastic* just loves. Have you told him that you've had the problem since you had the surgery? You would be one the younger end of that problem. Have you considered a second opinion?

I told him that it's been since the surgery. That's why I started going to him. I will get a second opinion.

I haven't done any tests because I'm procrastinating. I don't want to know the answer. To be quite honest, I've been avoiding the doctors phone calls. (Go ahead, chastise me)

I take comfort in the fact that this sort of cancer is rare for someone my age. I really think it's urethral damage. I still need an MRI to check for that so I think I'll persue that first.

The other thing is that I have alot of pain. It isn't the kind of pain (location-wise) that would indicate prostate cancer. So I'm not too worried...yet.

You're darn right I'll chastise you! But only out of Christian love
You need to get to the MD! even if it is another urologist. What does your family MD say? It is a rare thing for someone your age, but not impossible. Don't procrastinate any longer. If it is damage from a foley catheter, there could be scaring and the longer you wait the more scar tissue can build making things more difficult to function. There are many tests that can be done to see what is going on. At the very least, go for the blood tests. A PSA is a quick way of determining prostate cancer. A cystoscopy will visualize the urinary tract to check for structural damage and scaring.
But don't not go and get it checked out. God won't put you through anything that He doesn't think you can handle.
