this kind of relates to another thread i saw somewhere that asked if it were possible to marry your 1st bf / gf or if you needed experience in relationships for a relationship to work in the long term. well my question is whether during the first few months of your first relationship you thought you had found "the one", and if you were right.

NO Chris. In my case huh uh. I was raised mormon and dated only in my own religion. Now,if you ask me about my 2nd real boyfriend and did I think he was the one;yes and no. My Dad broke us up as it was too freaking hard for him to deal with a Catholic in my life. He convinced me the Catholic church and the LDS church will never mix. I've since left that church . I see boyfriend number 2 as the ONE but now there's more involved and I am now fighting to get him back.
If you think someone is the one, usually they are. Never let a parent or anyone tell you otherwise.

I'm into 5 months of my first relationship and I don't think he's "the one".

Not ruling it out either, but you know, no sense in worrying about that quite yet, we have MANY years to wait before marriage is on the agenda.

But I also don't believe in one soul mate. What I mean is, "the one" that I'll end up marrying.

No, I did not think my first boyfriend was the one. I was in high school and wanted to date, and it was not a serious relationship.

I did, however, think my first love (at 13) was the one. I turned out to be wrong, although he and I are good friends today, due to a lot of crazy intervention on God's part...so I suppose I wasn't completely wrong about us being compatible and him being important to me. It just wasn't quite in the way I'd originally thought. :)

When I first met my husband (at 20), from day one I thought he was probably the one I'd marry. That time, I turned out to be right. :D

My first relationship as when I just barely had turned 17. When we were only friends, long before we ever dated, I would dream of our futures together. Not necessarily marriage(though that came to mind once or twice), but I knew I always wanted to have him in my life. That hasn't changed in the 10 months we have been dating, though now we both are looking forward to marriage.

So yes, I'm in my FIRST relationship, we do plan on marriage, and we are still very much together. :)

It's definitely possible. He had an absolutely untimely death, but my cousin married a man whom you would call a soul mate—they started dating in junior high, they shared the same birthday, etc. It's just not that likely, at least not in God's plans. Don't go thinking the first person you go out with is the one, but on the other hand don't get into a relationship that you see no chance of a future at all. If two people are willing enough to go out with each other, there's at least some chance, right?

I'm in the first month of my first relationship and I'm not sure. There's another guy that's complicating things, I can't help but wonder if things would be different if he wasn't there. Anyway, the guy I'm dating and I get along great, we enjoy many of the same things and we were friends for a while before. If I didn't like him I wouldn't have said yes when he asked me out. There are just some things that we don't quite agree on and the way his future career looks kinda worries me. But hey, it's still early so I'm not going to give up. We talked about some of this, I even said something about the other guy, before we started dating so he knows my worries and stuff.

I am in my first relationship as well, and I really can't tell. When I look into the future sometimes I think I can imagine us married and sometimes I can't. I am only in the first month and have only known him a few months total. I do enjoy being with him and we do have some stuff in common. It think it's to early for me to tell. I don't think everybody 'knows' right off the bat. I think it sometimes takes time, especially if it is your first relationship and just trying to figure out how things work, like me.
