  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Global warming, sorry, flat earth warming is a real problem. The ice is melting and that means the sea will go over the edge. I suppose we will have more land to live on. I also wonder how God managed to flood the earth without the water going over the edge of the earth.

According to Genesis, God covered the earth with water during Noah's flood. How deep would the water have to be to cover Mount Everest? The earth is not surrounded by 40,000 ft mountains. So the water would have gone over the edge of the earth. Flat earth is implausible even before you take into account actual observations of the globe.

Well, the water went to the edges, and it was cold enough to freeze and create Antarctica! Man, some of you need to go to kawledge so you can understand simple sients.

So indeed it is a ring of satellites, orbiting at the equator.
If one reads this whole thread carefully, you guys have been defeated, your arguments do not hold up to the truth.
What a ridiculous statement. Tell me one FE argument that has not been shown to be false? Show me one map produced by FE explorers. Your FE map is simply a flattened out globe, hardly an accurate representation of the truth. FE adherents are deluded. It is that simple.

The problem with that is the height of the ice wall. It's nowhere near 40,000 feet.

Is there a "north pole" surrounding the entire flat-earth plate on any of the FE maps?
Do the edges of "Earth-plate" stretch out so far into the universe that there is not enough light from the Sun or heat from the Earth to keep them from being frozen all year?

Without a round Earth - there can be no geostationary satellites -- is it the FE argument that they don't exist either?

Without a round Earth - you can't fly west from Los Angeles and eventually get to Atlanta or D.C. without first cross back over the entire US. So FE arguments say they have no family or friends or business associates who fly east from Atlanta and then return via the westcoast of America - or who have ever flown west from LA and come back via the East coast.

Seriously??

The Earth is essentially a ball and it has a "Center of gravity" no matter which way one flies. so yes there are polar orbits the go from pole-to-pole and back around. All you need a center of gravity around which to orbit.

Hint:
The intentional misspelling of the word "college" (kawledge)
The intentional misspelling of the word "science" (sients)

I'm curious as to what's at the center. If you have an azimuth equal distance projection map centered on your location, it can be a handy thing, but it's practically useless for another location some distance away.

People generally know very little about how we got the Bible? This includes all the translating that went into it. Unfortunately, The Jewish priests did not have a happy equivalent for the Hebrew word רָקִיעַ râqîyaʻ. So they had to use what available word they had which was translated to the Greek word στερέωμα stereōma. Since the Romans copied everything about Greek culture, Latin had a tendency to follow Greek and there are many good examples of this. Thus from stereōma we get firmament from the Latin Vulgate. But neither word truly defines the Hebrew râqîyaʻ since in Hebrew it means expanse. The matter is settled today and well understood as most translations today are using expanse over firmament because that is what raqia intended to mean. While the LXX is considered the most accurate translation of the Hebrew Scriptures, even more accurate than the Masotetic Texts, its still not perfect. And raqia is such a classic case where translating a word didn't work out due to the differences in the langiages (as there was no word in Greek for raqia).

The Revelation verses you're reading entirely wrong.

The sky is stronger than metal and that is proven in science. The verse, however, does not say the say is made out of metal or solid metal sky. But the sky is stronger then metal.

There are over 68 sphere/globe earth verses in the Bible. I have access to them all.

The problem with modern English translations is that they all draw from the KJV which drew 90% of it's renderings from the 1560 Geneva Bible which was the worst translation of the 16th century (though better than many modern translations today). None of the translators of the Geneva Bible were high churchmen. The Geneva scholars had no serious experience in translating and lacked the discipline. And while their translation wasn't as bad as some of those out there today, it laid the foundation for what would become the flat earth allegation. This is because the word "world" in Scripture was overly simplified by the Puritans and the meaning of the Hebrew word תֵּבֵל têbêl was lost in translation. Now had the Puritans stuck to William Tyndale's renderings the flat earth allegation would have never happened. Tyndale was the best translator in English speaking history. The Bibles classified as Tyndale Bibles today are still the most overall accurate Bibles to date.

1535 Coverdale Bible

1537 Matthew's Bible.

1539 Great Bible

1568 Bishop's Bible

These are the Bibles classified as Tyndale Bibles with the Matthew's Bible bearing the most of Tyndale's renderings.
So when we get to words like תֵּבֵל têbêl, Tyndale correctly translated the word just as scholars centuries before him also did. The word means the habitable globe, or round world, and other phrases of that type. Its a word that is used in context with the earth as a globe along with its inhabitants. The Hebrew word chuwg just describes a sphere and is not used in the context along with the inhabitants. So, in simple terms, if you just want to say globe or sphere you say chuwg in Hebrew. If you want to say the globe and its inhabitants you say tebel. So if I say "people of the world" I have also implied the globular shape of the earth. Today people don't even know what a "world" is? People tend to think of that word as a space filler in a sentence. But even in English the word means globe/sphere whenever used in context with the earth as a planet.

But the sky is stronger then metal.
Yes, that is what Job 37:18 says, and John 3:13 says no man has ascended up to heaven.
Therefore the statement by Nixon to the astronauts 'the heavens have become mans realm' is clearly blaspheme.
During operation 'Fishbowl' during operation 'Dominique' in the 1960's nuclear bombs were shot up at the sky.
I believe they at that time were trying to penetrate the sky in earnest, but they tell us it was just 'high altitude' tests.
No man has ever penetrated the sky, it is hard as a molten cast metal looking glass,
with a city that has streets of transparent gold on top.

And a circle is not a ball.
The land is in a circle, not a ball.

Isaiah 40:22
It is Him that sits above the circle of the land.....

[Genesis 1:10 defines 'earth' for us as 'dry land']

Isaiah 22:18
He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball

In Isaiah 22:18 we see the word ball used.
Therefore in Isaiah 40:22 circle means circle, not ball.

The totality of scripture about creation gives a clear description.
That link shows all and every verse about it with a picture of what is clearly described.

You quoted a piece of what I said that includes a list of Bible verses that can be clicked on that leads to a good image of the earth as the Bible describes, with all the verses about it. I hand drew that image. At the edge is the sky, we are under the dome of the sky.

We are under a dome that is suspended in water, the water is eternally deep and eternally expands left and right.
The water is flowing from the throne of God [Rev 22:1] that is in the open in the middle of the heavenly city, that city is literally on top of the sky.
[In the end, that city comes down Rev 21:1-2]
The sky has windows in it that can be opened, during the flood those windows were opened,
allowing water to pour directly in and fill the place up.

"In the six hundred year of Noah's life.... all the fountains of the great deep were broken up,
and the windows of the sky were opened." Genesis 7:11

The land is surrounded by the sky. A flat plane under the sky, just as we experience.
