  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just found this video on YouTube and I believe it's the most amazing inspirational song of worship I have ever heard! I heard it once before but not like this version by the original artist? This actually brought tears to my eyes and I cried like a baby listening to it.

This is another awesome version of the same song. I love these videos by the Celtic Women. The first time I heard them sing was on a PBS special (and I had to get the DVD) and I thought I was listening to Angels singing for the first time? I have never heard voices in my life like you hear coming from these ladies and that evening left me speechless when it was over! Truly AWESOME!!!

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE LAST VERSE. Who exactly is the "lord" in this song? read it then listen again...

My sweet lord
Hm, my lord
Hm, my lord

I really want to see you
Really want to be with you
Really want to see you lord
But it takes so long, my lord

My sweet lord
Hm, my lord
Hm, my lord

I really want to know you
Really want to go with you
Really want to show you lord
That it wont take long, my lord (hallelujah)

My sweet lord (hallelujah)
Hm, my lord (hallelujah)
My sweet lord (hallelujah)

I really want to see you
Really want to see you
Really want to see you, lord
Really want to see you, lord
But it takes so long, my lord (hallelujah)

My sweet lord (hallelujah)
Hm, my lord (hallelujah)
My, my, my lord (hallelujah)

I really want to know you (hallelujah)
Really want to go with you (hallelujah)
Really want to show you lord (aaah)
That it wont take long, my lord (hallelujah)

Hmm (hallelujah)
My sweet lord (hallelujah)
My, my, lord (hallelujah)

Hm, my lord (hare krishna)
My, my, my lord (hare krishna)
Oh hm, my sweet lord (krishna, krishna)
Oh-uuh-uh (hare hare)

Now, I really want to see you (hare rama)
Really want to be with you (hare rama)
Really want to see you lord (aaah)
But it takes so long, my lord (hallelujah)

Hm, my lord (hallelujah)
My, my, my lord (hare krishna)

My sweet lord (krishna krishna)
My lord (hare hare)
Hm, hm (gurur brahma)
Hm, hm (gurur vishnu)
Hm, hm (gurur devo)
Hm, hm (maheshwara)

Song story...

I listened primarily to talk radio before my husband died. After that, I couldn't handle all the words and started to listen to music instead. Now, there was a relatively new country artist out that was singing some fun songs...my husband had me listen to one called "I'm Going to Miss Her" which is about a man whose woman made an ultimatum about him going fishing one more time...and he picked fishing and "was going to miss her". It is extremely funny and really wasn't too far off from my husband and my relationship. A few months before he died, he told me about another song by this same artist that he really liked ... and I laughed because I assumed it was another goofy one. It was called "Waiting on a Woman". Yeah, another joke because I was always "late"...I get it...hahaha. I never got around to listening to it at the time though.

Fast forward a few months. My husband had just died and I was trying to pick music for the funeral. My son volunteered that Daddy's favorite song was "Waitin on a Woman"...I laughed because it definitely didn't sound like funeral music...and still didn't listen to the song. (Again, Billy...not funny...)

Fast forward a few more weeks...I am buying some cds. That day I was heading out to the cemetery to sand down a wooden bench my BIL put on the grave for me. I wanted to have music to keep me company. I found what I was looking for ... and then almost tripped over another CD that had the song "Waitin on a Woman" plastered across the front. (OK, Billy, I'll buy it and listen!)...so I got that one too. I ended up putting that CD on first. Just as I got ready to actually start working on that bench, Waitin on a Woman came on...so I stopped to actually listen to the words. I was a complete mess by the end of the song...it even had that stupid bench in it. I honestly believe it was a love song just for me...

If you listen to the song, then you are listening (even if it is unconsciously) to people singing their praises to "other gods"... I think it is sort of a grey area and needs to be watched. To me it feels like offering God praises on an altar build for another. However, that is between you and God and not for me to judge.

I do get your point and I see what you're saying by the gray area however, we live in this world and it's almost impossible to do away with everything in this world simply because we think this is wrong or that is wrong by one's interpretation of something? Does that make sense? If you hear the song as I do and praise God (not any other gods), then where is the harm in a simple song?

It's like some of these strict churches that say it's wrong to listen to rock & roll, or to dress a certain way, or not to associate with non-believers. That to me is taking things too far and we should all be capable of knowing what IS right and what IS wrong according to God's Word.

My only point was it was WRITTEN as a song to praise other gods...and honestly, I think written in a way to fool the listeners into believing that it was a Christian song. This is different than the songs that are overtly not Christian even if people change them to be (the songs in the movie Sister Act come to mind as examples of these.)

OK, this kind of fits in with my rant this morning about these TV preachers always begging for money on their programs. I was searching for a video on YouTube for the theme song from Kenneth Copeland when this video came up? Was it just coincidence that this video would pop up when I wasn't looking for it? I found this to be very funny and very sad at the same time because it's so true!!! Here's the video...

I would not want to have to stand before God and answer WHY I felt I needed a huge house or jets or whatever. What happened to doing to the least of these, meaning poor people. They could live nice but not extravagent and help alot more people. I just think it's shameful, and I think that God is showing you the truth of these false prophets, giving you clarity and wisdom and understanding.

Exactly my point Michelle! If you look at how ALL of these TV evangelists live in their life of luxury, there is something seriously wrong there! When they say God wants them to have that jet, or that fancy home, or that collection of fine jewelry/art, and on & on... they don't get the message of being rich by His blessings? Being "Rich in the Spirit" is how I see God's meaning of riches, not the tons of skinny dead presidents that they all seem to covet!

What ever happen to the little modest homes that use to be built next to the church for the pastor and his family to live in while they preached the Word in that particular church? That is how it should be, not some multi-million dollar home on the lake or in the most expensive neighborhoods they could find???

What blows me away more than what they do, is that all of these people attending these huge mega-churches with the filthy rich preachers... they (the congregation) can't see what's happening here?

They can't see what's happening because they are deluded in their thinking and they want what the preachers have and the preachers are telling them that they too, can be a millionaire and they believe it. I bought into that philosophy for a very brief time in my life....until God revealed the truth to me.

Ahh! It was actually removed on YouTube! I guess the "powers that be" there didn't like it's message? I'm thinking perhaps one or a few of those super-preachers who the video was referencing has caused a stink about its contents? That's a shame because it was a truthful video indeed!!!
