I usually don't like the term "progressive," due to its usual connotation of denying essential Christian doctrines like the Trinity. But I like the term "Evangelical Adventist."

There are promises in the OT about Jesus ruling on Earth and some of them speak of rebellion on Earth at a time when it appears that Jesus is here - Zech 14 for example - vs 9-19. Many non-SDAs think the second coming will be Christ returning to Jerusalem ruling over both saints and sinners for 1000 years.. but somehow they have wicked people on Earth for that entire 1000 years. No one is immortal at that time in their view.

In this view the Lords return is to set up the kingdom and show people what the world look like when God gets his way. we try it his way for a 1000 years and the end satan come back and try's to decieve everyone. Sabbath is seen as a prophetic sign of this and fits nicely with the Sunday Law and the command to wait for the Lord to fix the problem and don't be like Moses or Saul and take matter into your own hand
