Um, Gnosticism isn't Christianity...

the biggest parallelism i saw with the matrix and Christianity was the analogue between sin and the matrix itself. keep in mind, this will mean nothing to non-Christians.

the matrix, like sin, is a world that everyone is born into. (except for the Zion people)
both are prisons that people do not realize they are in. they are a form of bondage that people cannot really feel with their senses.
it is easier for people to get out at a young age, older people have trouble letting go in the matrix, Jesus said that you must be as a child to enter the kingdom of heaven.
not everyone wants to be free from the matrix.

its hard to explain everything that I saw, but just watching the matrix, morpheus was decribing the matrix in the same way one can describe the world of sin.

I'm a huge fan of The Matrix, love the movies. All the christian involvment was a major plus.

The films where very good, but i have to say that i didnt like the first one when it came out, i thought it was rubbish but the more and more i looked into it i thought the message behind it was great and with a big similarity to christianity and our world today it made the story excellent.

The matrix reloaded was unbelieveable the best action film i have ever seen, the freeway chase was brilliant! cars flying everywhere, agents jumping onto cars, trucks smashing and exploding. Very well done.

Throughout all of the films the main theme is that our world isnt real and that we are living in a computer generated 'dream-world' where machines control everything. The similarity between this and christianity is brilliant and 'sad astronaut' explained it very well a few posts up, in terms of sin and all. Neo is basically the One, the Messiah, just as Jesus is the One of our world, our saviour and through the power of one man can the world be saved.

The first Matrix is my favorite - the sequels aren't that bad at all and I have no real complaints about them I love all the religious symbolism in these movies...and the action is really cool too

First one was the best.
The second and third were terrible, except the Battle for Zion in the third, that was amazing! I loved the robotic suits the humans had, they were bomb.

i dont know much about Buddhism to be honest - but if it depicts them wrongly then fair enough! you can see so much christian links in there though!

God, we can't even talk about movies without some blowhard attacking someone's religion. Bloody pathetic.

The links to Christianity are awesome. Finally a movie that has great action, a great cast, a great story, great dialogue, and the story is based on a lot of Christian bible storys. The way the movies come together is great.
They really are good movies.

I thought the Matrix was a fantastic film. I like a film that requires a lot of thought to work out and the matrix certainly made me think.
