The dollar sign used to have 2 bars across the S for me, now it only has one, so it looks like this: $. I would show you one with a double bar, but it's no longer an option on my phone.

I recall two, my wife recalls one. And our live in guest remembers two. We are all 60 and 70s years old here. But that's the point, it's open to perception. Also it depends on font style, could well be printed in a different font today. If you look up various fonts you can find double lines or single line on the dollar sign...... Just sayin.
By the way, my wife's Geneva bible has some of the KJV supposed alterations but not others and it predates the KJV... The NKJV obviously post dates the KJV and is unaffected....
Ya my computer keyboard has just one as well. I don't think anything of it. As I said it's font sensitive anyway. I seriously doubt a key got changed on your old computer but your perception of it. If there is something going on ( and there could be), I think it's happening in peoples minds. Makes much more sense than hard objects being altered.Hey, thanks for your response. I am half your age, and I remember two lines. Then suddenly, without reason, it changed. But here's the thing: I called my mother and asked her to go to my old room (they left everything as it was, ha ha), and check the keyboard on my old desktop. This is a physical key. She came back and said, "One line." What! How can that be?
Then I checked my laptop. It changed, too. I am a writer and editor (I know, hard to tell via my CF posts), and I am a stickler for detail. I promise you my devices and communications had the two-bar dollar sign. It is more than a little trippy. And I don't like it one bit.

Calling the change in a key on the keyboard the mandela effect is a misdiagnosis of what is actually a trick of the mind.
Like for instance looking at the word "carnivorous" and for a tiny millisecond your brain thinks that the word is "coronavirus". The two words subconsciously are associative. Then the conscious catches the mistake. But it's too late. For the rest of the day everytime that you see "coronavirus" you immediately think "carnivorous". Then you begin to think that someone has changed the word. So then you have to spend time making the mental correction that "carnivorous" is not "coronavirus" and vice versa.
If you don't pay attention, it's easy for the brain to fool you.

I too have seen on occasion two lines through the S.. but I haven't ever always seen it that way everywhere. The fact that sometimes it's just one, and other times it's two.. and your own preconceived idea that it must always be only one way has caused your brain to think that it's always been two lines.I'm not easily tricked. Yep. It's been a long time since I've looked at a manual typewriter to see if it is one or two lines.I do like consistency. For me it would be like suddenly using two lines instead of one across to create a capital A. The change doesn't make sense. It's a recognized symbol.
But you are right. No sense making it a thing. Life goes on.

Not much of a movie fan myself, especially secular movies. I just did a search on what I posted earlier and found things on that movie but not what I mentioned.I can't weigh in on this one. I prefer music to movies.
