I think part of the "confusion" here between the different viewpoints is that some have the idea that the Lord's Day is the same as the Sabbath, and others have the idea that the Lord's Day is distinct from the Sabbath. It is possible for the Lord's Day to be Sunday and the Sabbath to be Saturday at the same time, as only one example.

The Lords day is Sunday.
Actually from the time of John in book of Revelation and before it was not, it was the seventh-day, the Sabbath of the LORD.

Revelation 1:10 [kuriake hemera, "the Lord's Day" [the 7th Day Sabbath, not "the Day of the Lord", this is totally different in the Greek, which is the greater Sabbath of the Cosmic week], see Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 20:8-11, Deuteronomy 5:12:15, Isaiah 58:13, 66:23, Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:27,28; Luke 6:5 ], Revelation 10:6 [see also Exodus 20:11, 31:17; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalms 146:6; Acts 4:24, 14:15, Revelation 14:7]; Revelation 14:7 [see previous], etc

The day of His ressurection.
After many years and over time, it was slowly usurped by sunday.

The day of the resurrection is "the first day of the week' and has no other designation in scripture.

All those who teach that sunday is the "Lord's day', do so by retro-applying the error today, upon that phrase in the scripture.

The Jews remember the Sabbath. It is their religion. They keep it holy.

The Catholic church also keeps Sat holy as there is a Vigil mass.

Jesus brought with Him the new covenant. Christianity was born.

Sabbath was for the Jews.

https://www.catholic.com/tract/sabbath-or-sunday

Well that is not true. The Sabbath was made for mankind not Jews and Jesus is the Lord of it. (Mark 2:27-28)

The Gospels were written earlier than Revelation, probably by decades. John was the last Apostle alive when he wrote it. Sunday by then was already being called The Lord's Day. It is common in early Church literature in the East

That is only a theory that cannot be proven by scripture. Where as the Jewish week and daily counting convention for the week days which revolved around the Sabbath was a part of the Jewish culture from the begining since Genesis and can be shown in scripture.

As shown earlier there is NO GREEK or scripture linking the Lord's Day to the first day of the Week from OLD and NEW Testament scriptures.

And who were the men of the time? The Jewish nation.

Not in the beginning when the Sabbath was made. There were no Jews and no Israel and no sin.

GENESIS 2:1-3 [1], Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. [2], And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. [3], And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Jesus says that the Sabbath was made for man (translates mankind)

MARK 2:27 [27], And he said to them, The sabbath was made for man [G444 ἄνθρωπος mankind; human beings], and not man for the sabbath

Hope this helps

Genesis doesnt mention 'Sabbath'.

Your only trying to change the subject now which was that the Sabbath was made for all of mankind not just the Jews as shown in * Mark 2:27

GENESIS does indeed mention the SABBATH. Let's look at the scriptures...

The ORIGIN of the SABBATH is from the SEVENTH DAY of the CREATION WEEK and can be shown from

GENESIS 2:1-3 [1], Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. [2], And ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made. [3], And GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY AND MADE IT HOLY: because that in it he had RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] from all his work which God created and made.

The Hebrew word for RESTED used here is שׁבת; shâbath (H7673). It's meaning is; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, KEEP SABBATH, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

שׁבת; shâbath (H7673) is the ORIGIN or ROOT word for שׁבּת; shabbâth (H7676). shabbâth meaing is the intermission between SABBATHS and the continuation meaing from one SABBATH to the Next SABBATH continuation or EVERY SABBATH. It's application is in EXODUS 20:8 to REMEMBER [EVERY] Sabbath [shabbâth H7676]

This links GENESIS 2:1-3 above with EXODUS 20:8-11 which is God's 4th Commandment which says...

EXODUS 20:8-11 [8], Remember the SABBATH DAY, to keep it holy [Made Holy at creation GENESIS 2:3]. [9], Six days shall you labor, and do all your work: [10], But THE SEVENTH DAY [ Genesis 2:1-3] IS THE SABBATH OF THE LORD YOUR GOD : in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates: [WHY?] [11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: why the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. [GENESIS 2:1-3]

GENESIS 2:1-3 is INDEED the ORIGIN of the SABBATH (First Sabbath). It is the SEVENTH DAY of creation that God blessed, set apart and made a HOLY DAY for all mankind. Nearly every section of GENESIS 2:1-3 is repeated in EXODUS 20:8-11 of God's 4th commandment as the reason why we are to REMEMBER God's Sabbath.

Jesus says it was made for mankind; human beings, not Jews.

MARK 2:27 [27], And he said to them, The sabbath was made for man [G444 ἄνθρωπος mankind; human beings], and not man for the sabbath

Hope this helps

Yes, but Jesus isn't making a yoke around people's necks about the sabbath like "man" is doing by all these attempts at enforcing it and basing salvation around it. Sabbath is made for our *benefit*, not to convict us. Since Jesus, it's not about being a ceremonial style law that must be rigorously followed every week along with all of the other laws of Moses as Israelites/Jews were required to do under the old covenant. Under the new covenant, the spirit of the law is emphasized rather than the letter of the law. That's a big reason why it's not plastered all over the new testament and why no one has been able to find a specific scripture commanding sabbath *day* observation. It's not about days of the week...Saturday, Sunday, or any other day. It's about sabbath being written in our hearts...spiritual Israel...spiritual sabbath, and Jesus being our sabbath rest.

Salvation is from SIN and is ONLY by FAITH in the death and resurrection of Christ and God's WORD for all have sinned and fall short of the GLORY of God (John 3:16-21;Romans 3:23) . Those who continue in SIN will not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because they have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23; Hebrews 10:26-27)

SIN is the breaking or transgression of any of God's 10 Commandments as it is God's 10 commandments that give us a KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is (Romans 3:20; 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4). This also includes God's 4th Commandment Sabbath which is one of the 10 Commandments that give us a KNOWLEDGE of what sin is (Exodus 20:8-11).

If we knowingly break ANY ONE of God's Commandments when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

The above is a false statement and has no truth in it whatsoever. Jesus the prophets and all the apostles upheld and taught the 10 commandments including God's 4th commandment Sabbath all through the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT scriptures and taught others to do so.

SCRIPTURE SUPPORT HERE CLICK ME...

Jesus, the prophets and apostles all followed God's WORD and obeyed God's LAW from the heart by FAITH that works by LOVE to fulfill God's LAW in those who BELIEVED the WORD of God because they were born to LOVE and LOVE fulfilled God's LAW in their lives as they had faith in God's WORD. They entered into God's SABBATH rest because of their FAITH in God's WORD which changed their lives to LOVE.

None can enter into God's REST without first entering the Gospel REST (Genesis 2:1-3; Hebrews 4). In order to do any of this you must be Born of God to LOVE, for LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW in those who BELIEVE (Romans 13:8-10).

Whosoever is Born of God does not practice sin (1 John 3:9). Whosoever is born of God over comes the World through faith (1 John 5:4).

Who do we follow? The teachings of men that break the commandments of God? Or the Word of God where God's Spirit lives and where Jesus is knocking at the door of the heart waiting to be found by all who seek him?

Hope this helps..

Be careful about making an idol of the written word over and above the living Word.

The WORD of God is Jesus and Jesus is the living WORD (John 1:1-3; 14) :). I Love God's WORD becuase Jesus is the WORD of God and as we BELIEVE God's Word it is God's Spirit who works in us, so that we can walk on water and be changed into his image. By our faith and dependence on God's WORD to do what it says it will do Jesus saves sinners like me. This is God's power of creation that works through his Word and what the Sabbath teaches. God's WORD creates all things in those who BELIEVE.

Wouldn't you mean "dependence on God's WORD to do what he says he will do"?

He says he will give rest to the weary. Not that a day of the week will give us rest. He gives us rest. He is Sabbath.

Spirit of the law vs. letter of the law.
