The Life of a Musician

"No, no, nonono, NOOOOO!!!" exclaimed Nate, as Buzz beat him for the umpteenth time at Dead Or Alive 3. "I told you I'm an expert at this game, but you never listen," bragged Buzz, satisfied he had subdued his opponent. Nate looked at the clock. It was 3:28. "They should be getting here soon, Buzz," said Nate. Buzz looked at the clock, then turned off the X-Box. "You're right. Might as well sit on the couch or something, unless you like the floor," said Buzz, half jokingly. Nate got up and moved to the couch. Man, get here already, you two,thought Nate. I wanna know what this "surprise" is, exactly...

Katie ran to the door of Buzz's house and stopped, she was laughing to hard to knock on the door. Andi soon arrived, breathing heavily.
"Man, talk about a fast runner! I think you did four miles in four minutes!" she exclaimed.
Katie laughed again and knocked on the door.
"Hey Buzz!" she yelled.

"Hmm, that sounds like our 'guests,'" said Buzz. Buzz got up and opened the door. Toppling in, the girls were laughing pretty hard, trying to get through the door at the same time. "Ladies, one at a time!!!" said Buzz, jokingly.

"Buzz, you should have seen her!" Andi said between breaths.
"She says I was running really fast." Katie shrugged. "I honestly don't know what she's talking about." Katie said, with a laugh.
"Now, what's this surprise, Buzz? Andi and I are dying to find out!"

"Well it's simple, really. Oh and this is Nate. He's gonna be our drummer," Buzz said. Katie went wide-eyed. "Ya, I'm trying to make this dream of a band come true. I was thinking I could be lead guitar, and i could also sing while playing. Andi could be background guitar OR secondary vocals, or both. Katie could be lead vocals. Nate, as I said before, could be our drummer. In fact, that's all he wants to do."
"Well, that's all good, but our band can't be famous without a name to call it by, Buzz!!" said Katie enthusiastically.
"Well, then let's sit down and think!" said Buzz.

Katie and Andi were both too excited to think, but they tried anyways. A few names were mentioned, but were easily excused. Katie smiled.
"C'mon Buzz, you're the creative one of the group. I'll bet you've already thought of a name and just aren't telling us what it is." Katie said, jokingly.

Buzz thought for a while. "Oh, I know!! We could be your Friendly Neighberhood Gullwings!!! Nah, I'm just kidding. How about.... Four-Way Fire???"

Andi and Katie both smiled.
"It rocks!" they both said in complete unison.
They both laughed.
"What do you think Nate?" Katie asked.

Nate looked at Buzz. "What does it mean?" he asked. Buzz thought for a minute. "Hmm, I think it means that there's four of us, and we're going to spread God's word through music!!!" Nate was stunned. He wasn't a Christian, but he wasn't going to show it, if it meant that they were going to preach at him. No siree, I may be playing drums, but that doesn't mean I'm going to believe that nonsense, Nate thought. "Uh, sounds awesome, guys...and girls," said Nate, catching the glares on the girl's faces.

Katie looked at Nate.
"You don't sound all that excited." she said.

"Uh, I am, just, uh, tired of being beat at Dead Or Alive 3, is all," lied Nate. "ANYway, why don't we just drop that, and figure out where we are going to practice, and when."

 

[CJF]

"Good idea." Andi said, wondering the same thing herself.
Katie spoke up excitedly.
"The shed me and my dad fnished is perfect for practicing in. It's larger than a regular shed, since it has a stage and all. My dad said we could use it any time we need to, seeing as he built it for that very reason." Katie said, rather excitedly.
Andi thought it was a great idea. Well, at this point, she was too excited to care. Heck, a trash can would have been good enough for her at that moment!

Buzz laughed. "Sure, that'll be perfect. I saw it on my way here. Too bad you weren't there," Buzz said to Katie, tauntingly.

Katie looked at Buzz, slightly cnfused.
"What do you mean by that?" she asked.

Andi was excited. She'd only ever dreamed of having a band, and now her dream was more and more becoming a reality. She knew her parent's would be very excited. However, Andi had noticed that Nate hadn't acted as excited as the rest of them. Somehow, she didn't think it was because he'd lost at a video game. As Katie and Buzz were talking, Andi studied Nate's expression. He seemed a little...upset. He wasn't joining in on the conversation that Katie was having with herself, he was just sitting there. Andi wanted to say something but, not wanting him to get angry, she decided against it.

"So, when is our first practice?" Katie asked. "I'm busy Monday and Tuesday nights. Monday I have dance and Tuesday is Youth Group."
"Same here. And Wednesday nights I have guitar lessons. What about everyone else?"

 

[DudeForChrist]

"I dunno, anytime's good for me," said Nate. Buzz thought for a moment. "Hmm, I have to agree with Nate. The weekend, then? YOU know, Friday, Saturday, and MAYBE Sunday. What about you, chicas? That's spanish for 'girls.'"

Katie looked at Andi.
"That'll be our new nickname, I'll bet."
Andi laughed.
"Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays work for me." Andi said.
"Yup, me too." Katie said. "So like, does anyone have any songs written? I have one." Katie said.

"So do I, actually it's in the making," said Buzz. "Who should go first? Ah what the heck, you go."

"Go first? What do you mean? Like, sing the song or something?" Katie asked, half jokingly.
