"Who said I was shy?" Katie said, playfully punching Buzz in the arm.
"If anyone is shy here, it's Nate. I mean, he's barely said a word the entire time!" Katie said, laughing.
"Actually, I don't like the song I wrote. I think we should look at someone elses songs, before we look at mine. Mine are so not proffesional."
"Katie, we're highschool students. Our songs aren't meant to be proffesional." Andi said.
"Well, I just don't like my song. Why don't we look at some of your work, Buzz?"

Buzz pulled out a piece of paper. "Note, that this is sort of rock/gospel, k?" And he started to sing.

"Verse 1:
A house divided against itself
Cannot hope to stand for long
A building without a foundation
Always crashes to the ground
Oh people, I can say
We are like this even today

Chorus:
We're a nation divided
But under God we're united
We think we're better
Than anyone else around
If we would let go our pride
And trust God is the right side
Then maybe, just maybe, we could
Hope to stand.

Verse 2:
"For God so loved the world
That he gave his one and only Son."
So that we may live in Him forever
And ever, and ever again.
If we ask for forgiveness
Then we've started on the right track!

Chorus:
We're a nation divided
But under God we're united
We think we're better
Than anyone else around
If we would let go our pride
And trust God is the right side
Then maybe, just maybe, we could
Hope to stand. Repeat Chorus one time.

Andi was shocked.
"Wow. That's...awesome! Don't you think so Katie?"
"Like, duh! Gee Buzz, why did't you tell us you were so good and writing, and singing, songs? I mean, I'll bet Nate is even speechless." Katie joked.

Nate WAS speechless. That song had really spoken to him, especially that second verse. Finally, regaining his composure, he said, "Uh, ahem, Buzz, where did you get the first 2 lines of that second verse?"
Buzz looked at him and said, "From the bible. John 3:16. 'For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.' See?" Nate looked at the time. "Oh man, I should have been home 10 minutes ago!! See ya, Buzz," said Nate, on his way out the door.

The next day went by so fast, Andi felt like she was going in circles. After school, she quickly went home, got her guitar and headed for Katie's house. When she arrived, she realized that she was late.
"Sorry guys. Getting out of the school parking lot was torture." she said.
"Been there, done that. I take the bus." Katie said.

"I saw him at school this morning and asked him if he'd be here today. He didn't answer. I don't know if he didn't hear me, or what." Katie said with a shrug.
"I could call him?" she offered, pulling out her cell-phone.
"Great. Another mean of communication is the last thing you need, Katie." Buzz said jokingly.
Katie stuck her tounge out at him and dialed Nate's home phone.

"Nelson residence," said Nate, as he answered the phone. He soon had to pull it away from his ear. "NATE, WHAT'RE YOU DOING? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!!!!!" yelled Katie over the phone. "Geez, Kate, not so loud," he heard Buzz say. "Oh, man, sorry guys, I got held up here longer than i thought," said Nate. "We're doing spring cleaning, and my dad gave me a TON of chores to do. I'm only about half through." He wasn't too far off, either. "Just....tell them to start without me, k? See you definitely tomorrow."
************************
Buzz was laughing his head off. "See, I told you!!! Hahaha!!! It's just another form of communication for the all-too-infamous Katie Breten!!!" Buzz regreted it as Katie punched his arm. "Well, you shouldn't have yelled at him like that! I mean, it sounded like you were bringing down the house, er, shed."

"Alright, then that's what we have to do. I'm guessing he had some spring cleaning to do. His father doesn't even warn him in advance. He just drops the list on him. Being the only two in the house, they have a lot to do." Buzz picked up his guitar. "So who's doing what?" he asked.

Andi set up her black and gold guitar and set the microphone stand to fit her. Katie set up her mic.
"I'm singing. I don't play." she said.
"I liked your idea with me as background. I freeze up if I lead." Andi replied. "I'll sing background vocals, too if that's alright."

"Alrighty then, let's try to get a good rhythm going, and Katie....sing anything that comes into your mind, even if it's about pepperoni pizza. We'll be able to expand on it, ya know? And maybe later we'll outline what we did today, so we can plan better for tomorrow," suggested Buzz. Making sure everyone was in their places, with the exception of Nate, Buzz said, "A-one, a-two, a-one, two, three, four..." And they started.

Katie smiled and sang into her mic.
"Give me a break, give a break, break me off a piece of that kit-kat bar. Give me a break, give me a break, break off a pice of that kit-kat bar."
Katie kept singing that over and over. Andi tried to start harmonizing, but she'd laugh every time. Instead, she played the chord progression on her guitar.

Andi looked back at Buzz, her mouth open. She looked at Katie.
"When you said he was good, I didn't know you meant THAT good! Man, he makes me look like I only took lessons for a month." Andi said.
Andi gave Buzz an excited thumbs up.

Katie had heard Buzz's reply to her singing the kit-kat bar theme song. She smiled and looked at Buzz.
"You told me to sing whatever came to my mind!" she said.

Andi remembered a note progression her guitar teacher had taught her. She looked at the progression Buzz was doing, went to the same key he was playing in, and started to play her own progression. To their advantage, the progressions they were playing sounded good together.

Katie watched as Andi and Buzz played two totally different note progressions, but they sounded alike in some ways. She listened to Buzz's notes and once she had most of them in her mind, she started to sing into the mic.
