  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It should be the sixth track. I just checked my computer and it was in the file I put on your cd, so you should have it. If it is mislabeled, it's the only song that is 5:27, but I'm not sure how that could have happened.

Eh, I won't pretend I'm tech savvy, I could have just screwed something up.

Ahh...the glitch was on my end. I copied it to my music folder, but for some reason, that (and one other track) weren't added to my iTunes. Problem solved. Oh yeah, great tune! "Elephant Eyelash" just got better.

Just listened to "The Avalanche" off the Illinois vinyl. At least it adds some balance to the CD as far as subdued sound goes (see, Gacy). The instrumentation toward the end nicely fits the tone of what seems like all of Illinois' instrumentals.

Beautiful folky music highlighting the acoustic and banjo, brilliant vocal throughout. At the end, the vocal enters a register that Stevens should do more often. Delightful.

I have a friend that's been trying to get me into Do Make Say Think...he's also been trying to get me into the Red House Painters and Codeine though...

Also, I was wondering...is it possible to upload a song from a vinyl? Oh, the things I take for granted!

I have to submit my top 5 albums of 2005 for antimusic soon, so I thought I would run my (semi) final list by you guys and see what you think (since we've been talking about this forever).

1. "Illinoise" -- Sufjan Stevens

2. "Twin Cinema" -- The New Pornographers

3. "The Milk of Human Kindness" -- Caribou

4. "Break of Day" -- Chase Jedick

5. "I Am a Bird Now" -- Antony and the Johnsons

Honorable mentions go to (in no order):

Devendra Banhart -- "Cripple Crow"
Andrew Bird -- "The Mysterious Production of Eggs" (this may take the #5 spot)
Animal Collective -- "Feels"
Sigur Ros -- "Takk"
Six Organs of Admittance -- "School of the Flower"
Tenderfoot -- "Without Gravity"
The White Stripes -- "Get Behind Me Satan" (I'm liking it more and more)
Why? -- "Elephant Eyelash"

Most overrated:

1. "Z" -- My Morning Jacket
2. "Apologies to the Queen Mary" -- Wolf Parade

Never checked out, but I should have:

Sleater-Kinney -- "The Woods"
M.I.A. -- "Arular"
LCD Soundsystem -- s/t
Eels -- "Blinking Lights and Other Revelations" (I'll get to it eventually)
Kanye West -- "Late Registration
Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah -- s/t

I think that is exhaustive enough.

Psh. More like Crap Your Pants Say Yeah.

I jest.

The list looks pretty good to me.

I've been organizing my top ten list for a few websites and a column for my school's paper.

Barring some unforseen event my list is as follows:

1. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
2. New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
3. Why? - Elephant Eyelash
4. Antony & the Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now
5. Animal Collective - Feels
6. The Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike (US)
7. M.I.A. - Arular
8. Art Brut - Bang Bang Rock & Roll
9. Stephen Malkmus - Face the Truth
10. The Decemberists - Picaresque

Although, I have been toying with the idea of replacing the Decemberists with Deerhoof or Andrew Bird. Decisions, decisions.

Figured I'd pass along info I know, since anyone who likes Godspeed you! Black Emperor, Do Make Say Think, ASilverMtZion etc, might like the following bands. Or if you just like good instrumental music with an avant-garde feel to it at times.

The Antarticans, Fly Pan Am, Set Fire to Flames, esmerine, stars of the lid, mono, The Cancer Conspiracy, Oceansize, Red Sparowes, A Northern Chorus, The Album Leaf, The Black Heart Procession

They were awfully overhyped weren't they? I did buy the CD, but the only songs I really enjoy are the first and last tracks (much like I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning)

Gah. Lucky. My school paper's great, in this month's edition they had a quote from 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' on the front page

That would be a horrid idea. :)

The best indie shop (music, movies, clothing, books, etc.) in town burned down last night. They had great prices on music. I don't know what I'm going to do now.
aw ****! I'd hate it if my local, awesome indie store burned down. CI Records isn't the *best*... but it's still pretty bloody **** fine.

The closest I have is the Used CD store by my house where all the hipster guys (yea that's right...they won't hire girls for some reason. Trust me. I've tried. *angry face*) work. Other than that...the closest indie CD store is about 15 or 20 miles away.

At home, there's a street in town about 5 minutes away from me that has an indie record store, a bookstore, a used bookstore, and a nice coffee shop. I used to spend hours there.

The closest indie record store to me at school is in Salem, which is about 20 minutes away. I rarely make it out there though, mostly because I spend most of my money on books and various things on eBay.

And for the record, I just thought you all would like to know that my roommate and I beat Shaq-Fu for SNES yesterday. It took us three days, but we finally were able to defeat Sett Ra and free the little boy, Nezu, all in time for the charity basketball game. Seriously.
