  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Importance of being Mr. Fix-It.

I consider myself somewhat of a handy man, but after a certain plumbing incident, my wife does not have much confidence in me.

I can fix most things minor, though. And, I am the bug killer/saver (my kids freak out that I kill them. They want me to save them and put them outside. Where a bigger bug, bird, or animal can kill them).

Speaking of plumbing incidents, lol...
our upstairs bathroom got the floor redone, but apparently we didn't set the toilet down right and it had a leak...
so the downstairs bathroom directly below... I discovered a big black, saggy circle in the ceiling as I was cleaning one day. Eek! We got to learn drywalling, lol.

Most things that need fixing around the house I always help with. I hate sitting around doing nothing while he works, so I hold his tools, or mix things, or lay the tile while he cuts it, etc.

I would love to know how to do major engine repairs, I think alot of that boils down to having the tools, shop and a lift or a pit. I do major house repairs with the help of some friends that teach me to solder. I have to put in a new floor too and am not excited about spending 300-400$ on tile for 100 ft^2

Women - Is that important to you, that your husband can do that? A moot point? Or a perk?
For me, it's a perk. Most of the things I can do on my own, and specifically things with lots of part or that require patience, I tend to do on my own since Andrew gets really anxious about stuff like that. I put my desk together in about thirty minutes, I can guarantee it would have taken at least an hour if he would have done it ;)

When there are things he is good at though, it's awesome!
